Lets get back on track.  Josh Gray!  :ksu:  Whats the word on scholarships?  How are we going to make room for him?  I know there is a Frank Omari camp, but is there anything more behind this other than he appears to be our worst player?  I know there are other rumblings of Watson graduating, is that really an option?

I don't understand what you mean by "rumblings of Watson graduating".

So, we've basically got 2 ships available for 3 guys (Darrell Johnson, Gray, and Orris)?

We're taking both Gray and Orris if they both commit

With Johnson, Diaz, Gipson, JO (and Nino I guess), isn't James Watson the most logical to cut?

Here's a question...

Wasn't Watson a RS at Washington State?  So, theoretcially, he's been in college four years, right?

Could it be that he may only have a handful of credits left to get his degree and maybe we're going to make him pay his way (thereby freeing up a scholarship)?

If Watson has been in school four years, and he's close to graduating (hopefully), it may be a waste to put him on athletic scholarship for a full semester.

This...

Those aren't rumblings.  It's me trying to figure out where we may free up a scholarship for Gray based on the information that oscar wasn't planning on running anyone off.

Ummm, post players are less developed coming into college basketball than gaurds are in general, Bad comparison

Ummm, Beasley, Durant, and Griffin were post players.  Stop being a dumbass.

In any event, other notable Freshman Forwards in the "good" category would be Quincy Miller, Michael Cobbins, Jordan Tolbert, and Le'Bryan Nash.  Gip is somewhere below "good" IMO.

Not saying he's bad, by any stretch.  Far from it.  He's going to get better, no question.

If he's gonna be a good player, he needs to get back to that baby hook shot where he draws contact and creates space horizontally.  He'll always be vertically overmatched.  Against longer teams like Baylor, it's pretty noticeable.  Against small teams like MU, he's effective.  I'd also like to see him hit an 8-10 ft. face up jumper like he did at times in the non-con.

considering i was showing Watson around a house earlier this week, he doesn't seem to think he is getting run, at least at the moment.

Somebody's out IF Gray commits.  If we flew down to visit and he actually takes a trip to Manhattan next week for an official, that's pretty evident there's a scholly on the table.

Texas Christian University coach Gary Patterson has been hired as Kansas State's 34th football coach, multiple sources have confirmed to GoPowercat.com.  Patterson replaces Ron Prince, who was fired Wednesday. - Tim Fitzgerald   Nov, 7, 2008

Weber, contrary to popular opinion, isn't stupid.  He's seen the team work out, and he's watched Gray in person.  He knows there is a need, and if a kid like Gray wants to play for KSU, he'll find a way to make it happen.

If someone gets run, someone gets run.  The only question I have is whether or not he tries to get creative (i.e. as I said with Watson) before trying to run someone in favor of a better player.

another creative way to run someone is to just throw all of omari's crap out in the street while he's at Long John Silvers and change the locks on his apartment

This is what we should of kept Prince around for.  I mean, if we're paying him anyways, we should of just made him the resident dick in the athletic dept.  Currie could have really benefitted from this.

sounds like a job for casey scott. that guy would probably run every single basketball player on the team if given the opportunity.

Would be fantastic at this.  He could just call them and act like he is trying to recruit them.  Works every time.

What Fanning wants, Fanning gets:

"The big time players that have signed with Tech is one thing I really like about them," the Houston Wheatley point guard said. "My relationship with Chris Walker, he's one of the best recruiters in the nation, and Coach Gillispie is one of the best coaches in the nation. They said they're jumping at the opportunity to get me.

"Gray said he already visited Kansas State, Seton Hall and Mississippi State before committing and subsequently signing with Mississippi State. Gray got out of his Letter of Intent with the Bulldogs after Mississippi State head coach Rick Stanbury retired."

"This is Gray's final visit before making a decision."

WTF

Just to clarify, according to the article below which was linked here last week, Gray did state last fall that KSU was recruiting him, so it's not completely out of nowhere that he MIGHT have visited KSU previously, it's just that when it supposedly happened, not 1 word was said about it.

Hopefully, the Tech writer just flubbed it and got the KSU visit times completely switched around.
