No, depends what cards you have. The Sapphire gives 2 UR points for restaurants and airfare. The Ink cards give 5 for cable and phone bills and anything bought at office supply stores. Ink also have 2 points for gas and hotels. But, if you have those two it's not hard to figure out which card to use from there.

Well of those cards, so far I only have the Sapphire Preferred. Hmm, maybe I should look into the Ink...

I don't. .04 is was too generous. it depends what you use them for I guess. I think the travel bloggers value them closer to .02. it's easy to claim you got .15-.20 in value from each when you book a first class flight that would go for some ridiculous figure but unless you would pay that for it that's not a valid figure.

i agree, the first class values are only valid for people that would actually book those with cash.  i've found i can get about .015 for american and united pretty easily.  more than that is usually luck or you accept inconvenient routes/times.  but i don't know what i'm doing with redeeming.  earning is so much easier.

you can buy amazon gift cards from staples and get 5 UR points per $ spent on the Ink cards. I've put mrs. dave on a strict "don't buy crap from the internet without checking with me first" spending plan.

What does everyone have planned for points travel over the next 12 months? I've got:

-Chicago with some bros in early September flying SW and staying 2 nights at an Embassey Suites
-4 Nights in NYC on an old AXON (RIP) Hilton award in early October flying United direct (paid one way and points the other)
-2 rooms for 2 nights in Tulsa in late Oct. at a Doubletree that's only 10k a night so I'm scared that it's going to be garbagey
-A night in Wichita at the Hyatt during XMas
-6 nights in Maui in May '14 staying at the new Andaz and flying 1st class on AA

somewhere in there I'll probably use points to drag mrs. dave along on a couple business trips. maybe use some marriott points for a couple nights at the Cosmo in Vegas or something. also have two Hyatt cat. 1-5 awards I have to burn before Mar. 2014 that I don't currently have a spot for. Not wasting them on a Wichita stay.

-October trip to Jamaica on AA miles and staying at the Hilton all inclusive there on points (really interested to see how it compares to other all inclusives)

I really want to work in a trip to Vegas since I have the companion pass. I'll also probably fly to Baltimore in early 2014 using the companion pass.
