How Many Credit Cards Do You Have?

Anybody ever converted the Amex SPG card to a new no annual fee Amex instead of canceling it? Fee time is coming up and I want to cancel my SPG card (and get it again next year). It's the only Amex card I have and I want to keep that length of credit history since Amex reports all your accounts as the age of the first card you got. I don't really want to get another annual fee Amex at this time since I want to get a Chase Ink and I think I might get a new mortgage this year. Worried about getting too many cards because of that.

Anybody converted it? Never done it with any of my cards, but it sounds like most banks will transfer your credit to another card.

Just called Chase and now have another 10k points headed my way thanks to them honoring the 60k Ink Bold offer!

yep it does, although i screwed myself out of a few points by waiting too long to trigger on the aa mastercard.  live and learn.

I was super lazy back when they had the 100k and 75k AA cards that you could get each every 4 months or whatever. I only did them about 3 times. I could have platinum exec status right now for the rest of my life but I thought I could take my time.

No, but I would try anyway once you have your AA account number

NOPE!  Was approved but still waiting. Kinda getting pissed. sys rubbing his arriving in my face didn't help matters.

I didn't get instant approval so I called and they said due to the large number of applications for the ink bold that it would take 7-10 days before they could even give me an answer! I then called back like 5 minutes later and the second person told me the same thing and pulled the "I see a note on your account that a CSR mentioned this to you earlier today, did you need clarification?" Then I was all and and hung up :(
