but this is talking specifically about amex hhonor cards and not co-branded amex cards. like mikey said, people were getting amex hhonor cards every three months and then all the sudden this wording comes up and has started popping up on other cards as well. it's better than chase where you can never get the bonus again and yeah who knows if it will really be enforced or not, but it is new though and at least worth mentioning.

yeah, it's definitely YMMV on churning bonuses....some say they get them again, others don't. Aside from Chase, most others appear to at least allow it for most at some point in time.

Nothing. I don't know if you have any businesses or whatever. I was just saying that not having a business FIN to use isn't a barrier.

EDIT: I always use goEMAW's FIN for business cards but I could just as easily use my SSN. It's meaningless.

Really close. Definitely some high fives, you were with Mrs. SD IIRC and we chatted for a bit. I was with EDIT: a friend who some are being creepy about. His mom works for the NCAA and scored the tickets. It was a pretty great day to be a Wildcat.

I think the belly pictured might belong to previously mentioned mustached old guy. I am not him.

just got the second 40k US Air sign up of the year. got the second card roughly 4 1/2 months after the first one. cancelled the first one at about 3 1/2 months.

I just got my first one in the mail. How long should I wait to cancel it? What do you usually say when you are cancelling a card immediately?

never cancel immediately. Meet your minimum spend, then wait a couple of months at least. If you don't, and the credit card company notices your trend to cancel immediately, they may either start denying approval or even revoke your points. Not likely, but possible. Unless there is a need to do so to churn (like the Hilton cards/ Hawaiian Air) no reason to not keep for a full year and cancel right before the fee hits. Doing so may also get you retention offers or waived fees.

Just got an apology letter from Hyatt noting that I fell just short of maintaining my diamond status but that platinum still had great benefits and, for my trouble, got one of those platinum certificates for free points that trim let expire. yeah, you owe me an apology for giving me diamond for 6 months and 4 suite upgrades Hyatt.

part of me wonders if you could respond in some way by telling them that you thought the chicago nights that you already have booked would count towards the challenge and ask them to extend it for you or something. like "i booked these 12 nights under the assumption that...".

funny thing about that, I had 6 other nights booked for later on in the year and had to cancel them for some schedule changes. my diamond held on way longer than I thought it would but it reverted to platinum the day I cancelled those additional 6 paid nights I had reserved. wondered if that somehow triggered it. I once got Hilton Gold when I shouldn't have and I had about 25 nights booked in the future when I did. Wondered if there was some sort of trigger for upcoming guests that have a certain amount of rooms booked. I'll ask them next time I'm invited to participate in the Hyatt breakout session thing.
