Posted about this earlier but they extended it and everyone should do this.  Register your Amex(s) here and you get a $25 statement credit if you spend $25 or more on one purchase at a small business (not a chain) before 12/31.  If you have more than one Amex you can register them all and each will get the $25 credit.  Read a story of a couple who had 13 different Amex accounts, registered all of them and bought 13 bottles of $25 wine getting $325 back in statement credits.  I don't think you can register your spouses card on the same account though as it has to be different accounts.

https://enroll.amexnetwork.com/US/sbs/

Thanks to this and my 3 Amex cards I just bought 5 6packs of micro winter seasonals, two bottles of malbec and a bottle of champagne all for about $3  :pbj:

Thought about that. Might go with three 25 dollar rab Xmas gift cards where you get an free five dollars free w/ each gift card. Free 90 dollars at rab here I come.

this also may have been posted already or something similar but continental and continental cc cards won't be around much longer so if you haven't had one, now would be the time. 30,000 miles, 2 free president club passes and free $50 for simply using the card once and adding an authorized user....

Sweet. Signing up the other card. I spent mine on Saturday at Better Cheddar on some scrumptious Smoked German Bruder Basil, Cahill Irish Porter, Le Roule, and Cotswold w/ chives. Nice to see the $25 credit has already appeared on my account.

British Airways miles conundrum/SD/Trim/etc. alert***

i had over 200,000 BA miles but their stupid site never showed availability, so i researched a little and then got on AA and found AASaver flights (Booking code T) that were available and called British Airways on the phone and told them the exact flight numbers and days and etc and bam!

flying from mhk to eyw this summer for only 25,000 BA miles and ten dollars a ticket which if paid for would have been >$500/ticket. still have 160,000 miles left.

yeah i saw that. was pretty scared cause i am probably gonna do key west westin (wife has never been) but won't have enough points for five nights for another month or two but it looks like that is one place that is not going to have a peak season.  also, plan on hunting down leach if he's still there, katpaking his face off and then presenting him w/ a contract to become the next ksucats head coach. wish me luck.

also, hypothetical conundrum for sd....
option #1- use 48,000 spg points to book key west westin for five nights (5th night free).
option #2- save the spg points and book using govt rate of 145/night.

i don't want to pay but also don't feel like i'm getting a great value for my points here. it's quite the conundrum. thoughts? ask william?

I would just pay the $725 to stay five nights and earn even more points and then use them somewhere that you can't get a govt. rate.  I mean, they aren't gonig to expire or anything.  Seems like a waste to trade 12k SPG for a $145 a night room (not taking the 5th night free into account though).  We are looking to book for Kauai/Maui in May and we will be doing the same 12k a night/5th night free but the room rate is $339 with no govt. rate option.  :twocents:

that's the way i'm leaning, but it's an internal battle of wills to pay for something that i technically wouldn't have to.

This the BIG SPG annoucement??  :ck:

http://auction.starwoodhotels.com/?EM=Moments_EM_Dec7_headermt

Just got an email about it. Figure it can't be the announcement, but I haven't seen any of this before in my brief stint thus far w/ SPG.

sd,

will this turn your 48k hawaii into 36k?

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/starwood-preferred-guest/1103392-promo-spg-rewarding-returns-link-live-register-12-31-2010-a.html

Holy hell  :excited:

Downside is that we decided to stay at the St. Regis in Kaui which is 20K a day and above a cat 5 which doesn't appear to qualify  :frown:  We would have saved 20k SPG for the 5 day award.  Now I have to regroup and decide what to do...we almost have to stay at the Cat 5 Westin on Maui now.  Almost have to.

it looks like as long as you register before the end of the year and have at least five qualifying stays since july, you'll at least get something of value.
