well, there is an arb clause and waiver for signing up for the credit monitoring service but it applies only to the credit monitoring service and not for the breach. so it's real news for idiots I guess.

I think I'll be letting go of my Sapphire Reserve once the year is up.     What card should I get to keep my URs alive?

The annual fee hit my account last week and it definitely made me think twice about keeping it.

yeah, I just don't travel as much these days with 2 little kids, at least not enough to justify the $450.    It was great when you could double-dip on the travel credit, but not that they mushed that...

Yeah, pretty easy to spend two nights in a hotel during the year to get to $300.

1.5x redemption rate is the main reason I kept it.

you need a permanent freedom as a backup stash card.  then churn csr, csp and ink(s).  if you have a spouse, space out the csr cards so you almost always have one available for redemptions.

you can no longer get a sapphire card if you currently have a different sapphire card. not a big deal but going to have to cancel my OG Saph to get the Reserve which makes me kinda sad.

how does that work w/ the bonus then?
you don't want to cancel the pref before you get the res but you can't get the res if you have the pref?

I feel dumb, I had it in my head the travel credit was $150 and I got $300 for double dipping.   Forgot it's $300.     That makes it a tougher call.     Maybe I'll just keep it or downgrade to a CSP for now to avoid the ding on my 5/24.

it's just another date thing you have to keep in mind besides 5/24 and 24 post bonus if you are churning with a spouse.  if you're going solo, you'd just have to let the points fall to the freedom for a short time on sapph to sapph churns.

i'd consider just keeping the csr and only churning inks and uniteds for a one person churn, but it'd really suck to give up on sapphire bonuses entirely.

Seems worth to keep for the credit and PP access alone.

One freedom card between you and your spouse is enough, right? I don't want to waste a 5/24 for spouse to get another freedom. Never transferred points, but it looks like I'd be able to transfer her points to my freedom when it come times to cancel.

I'm looking to rack up some reward miles. I've signed up for SW business and personal cards in the past to do this, but I think it's been at least 2 years since I last enrolled. I've since cancelled the business card but kept the personal.

This time around, I want the points and the companion pass. So my plan is to sign up for the Chase Sapphire Preferred as a substitute (Southwest is currently my only visa card), then cancel my SW card.

Then I want to open a SW personal and business card to get those sign-up bonuses as soon as possible after January 1, 2018. How's that work? I assume I can start putting spend on the cards in the last few months of 2017 as long as the I don't hit the spending minimum until 2018?

Ok, so I guess step 1 is get the sapphire. Use that to replace the SW card.

Step 2 pay off the SW card and close.

Step 3 apply for new SW personal and business cards toward end of October.

Will Chase have any problem with me opening 2 personal accounts (sapphire and SW) and 1 business account all within a couple of months? I haven't opened another Chase account in at least 2 years.

Probably not but why the need for the CSP right now?

My only other card is an Amex Blue Cash Preferred. I'll need some sort of Visa to replace the SW for a while and I figured the sapphire was the best to rack up general purpose reward miles?
