When Chase is applying the 5/24 rule, does it only apply to Chase branded cards or all card accounts?  For instance, could you have 6 new Citi/BOA cards and still get approved for a new chase card or would the 6 non-Chase cards kick someone out based on their bullshit rule?  I've read through several articles and haven't been able to find anything that spells this out clearly.

if you have a separate credit card assigned to each you could but you can't double dip. so I don't know what the point would be. the same company runs all of them.

Problem with that is that even though the card is set up through the business with our tax number, it still shows up on my personal credit report.  From what I have read, that is almost the norm now.

yeah, i dunno the mechanics of how or why they aren't supposed to count.  on my bus cards, i only give a ss#.  but here's the flyertalk summary of the issue.

How does Chase calculate the number of an applicant's new cards for purposes of the 5/24 rule?

    The 24-month count includes personal cards opened at other banks, and even cards on which the applicant is only an authorized user and not the primary cardholder. Chase has been extremely inflexible with this policy, with agents stating that there is nothing they can do to circumvent this restriction. However, in some cases Chase may reconsider a denial if the applicant has <5 new cards excluding cards on which s/he is an authorized user. You may need to escalate to the next level of customer service agent, as many front-line agents seem to be unable or unwilling to remove the authorized user accounts from the count.

    Note: The actual cut-off number of recently opened cards may not be 5; it may be lower or perhaps higher, and it may differ for different applicants. Note also that the number of inquiries on a given credit reporting agency (or the total across all CRAs) is irrelevant.

    Note also that

            non-Chase business cards and
            cards not reported to EQ/TU/EX (such as some department-store charge cards)

    don't count towards this 5-card limit. However, Chase business cards are included in the total.

Applied for the CSP for me and the InkPlus for our business.  Both are pending per the status line.  Called and talked to an advisor and all that they could tell me is that it was still under review.

Both of those things are weird.  If they were going to deny you for 5/24, they would have done that on your phone call and if not, they should have been able to approve you after asking you questions or moving credit around.

That is what I thought.  We did get a letter at our house regarding the Ink card asking for a copy of photo ID and SS card.  My guess is that it could be because we recently moved to a new house.

having a bus card get further review is pretty normal in my experience, like maybe a 50:50 thing.  no idea on the csp.  maybe applying for the ink at the same time triggered a human review?

Had the Hyatt & SW Chase cards, 2 business cards that showed on my credit report, and one rando that had been cancelled a year or so ago.  When I asked her if I just go 5-24'd, she said that they cannot disclose internal blah blah blah, but just that it showed I had too many accounts over the last 2 years.

Ugh, that's a pretty weak 5 in 24.  Guess it depends on when one of those falls out of the 24-month window and/or if your wife can get something and add you as far as whether you should give up on chase for life.  I slowed down just enough to make sure I could have csp and ink and maybe get another hyatt and then I'm done with them and doing alaska over and over.
