How's come?  I don't currently have any citi cards. I would still build up some travel just off bonuses. I also never had the Costco Amex so I was just using the shitty Amex everyday their getting 1%. Now I can get 2 plus 4% on gas. The only other thing I can come up with to beat that would be when the freedom offers 5% on good categories.

actually it just depends. when you mention the UR point cards you aren't comparing apples to apples. an UR is worth more than 2 cents so when you mention the freedom 5% you are actually getting more than 10 cents'ish. does that make sense? and then a CSP would be getting 2 cents. if you shop the living crap out of costco and don't care about being able to get a chase 5/24 card then go for it.

So basically if I shop at Costco a lot and don't get 5 chase cards within 24 months anyway I should probably get it to use there and for gas. That is pretty much what I do. I usually just grab a card or 2 a year for the bonuses. I'm not an elite churner. The best I've done is get the 2 chase cards and get the companion SW pass. Other than that I do it for fun and for the occasional free trip. I'm going to have to step it up at some point though. Don't travel for work anymore and my Marriott points are dwindling. I haven't paid for a hotel in 10 yrs.

with the exception of a few co-branded cards, you will not be a approved for the majority of Chase credit cards if you have opened 5 credit accounts in the last 24 months, or are an AU on a card opened in that time.

Also, what are the chances of this 5/24 rule blowing up in Chase's face? Like, do Citi and Amex become super popular amongst churners with some possible new products coming online to replace the void that Chase has left in the market? Does the effect on their market share ever get bad enough that they have to come crawling back to the churners to ask for forgiveness, in way of bomb-ass cc bonus offers? It's probably a fantasy, but it's what keeps me hopeful for my churning future. Right now it looks grim, and boring.

make the rewards/perks better to keep the spenders and weed out the churners is the dream.
