Got approved. Honestly guys, Credit Karma makes this fun for me. It's like a game and gets me more motivated to improve my score.

Is this useful?  Does anyone else use this?

It's useful for monitoring. I also used the Chase Freedom offer there.

That's pretty much the only use I would have for it. So they would alert you if someone tried to open an account with your info right?  Do they spam you with offers and stuff?  Just curious if it is worth the troubs ?

You can judge outfits like credit karma based on who they market to.

Before you go making reservations and trying to switch them, though, keep in mind that some of the hotel chains will allow you to make a preemptive award booking even if you don’t have the necessary points in your account at the time of booking, and then you just have to earn the rest of the points you would need before the reservation is canceled under their normal policies.

The 2 free Hyatt nights have hit my account but I'm still a few k points short for a third night.  I'm due 5k for the authorized user spend and another 2-3k coming for regular spending, so way more than I need.  I'm impatient and want to book ASAP and I have no idea when those extra points will actually show up.

I have discovered that applying for hunting tags is a great way to rack up spend.  You apply for a hunt, and every time ~$700 goes on your card, and if you don't draw they mail you a check for the refund (minus the app fee).  I bet I could get over $8k of spend every spring.  Crazy.

I do this with Marriott.  I reserved a Cancun trip and still needed another 50K or so.

Most of my turmoil was due to checking something other than sole proprietorship on the application.

Marriott just started letting you do the booking before you have points thing. Useful I suppose. They also count award nights toward status now which is kinda neat.

If you are rich and have kids (that you are taking with you) then you should use your free Hyatt nights at the Park Hyatt in Beaver Creek. If you don't meet those criteria then you may want to reconsider.
