you should keep an eye on choice priveleges (quality inn, clarion, etc) they come in handy when you end up in a smaller town that doesn't have a hilton or starwood or something and need to stay in a hotel. when i got mine a few years ago it gave me enough for three nights.

I have an excel document with all of them listed with when I need to cancel by, what I need to spend on them before cancelling, etc.  The Amex's are easy because you just log in and they all pop up on one screen.

Yeah, a lot will give you cash back.  Discover cards do but you can't use them everywhere.  My FNB visa gives me 1% back but I never use it.  You can apply for the FNB Visa online.  It's called Bucks Back card or something.

cash back is lame cause you're just going to spend it on toilet paper or corndogs at riverfest or something. there are a bunch of airline credit cards that will give you enough miles for a free roundtrip ticket anywhere just for signing up. signup, use it for a month or two then cancel it. fly to mexico roundtrip for free (basically) and then repeat process.

that's your fault then. i rewarded a lot of them by letting them give me tons of free crap. thanks citibank!

I did some math and figure I've gotten about $5,000-$7,000 worth of travel from just applying for and using this list of credit cards in the last 6 months.  I could inflate it a ton because just two round trips to Hawaii in first class would have run us $5,361 and we are getting them free.  But, I wouldn't normally fly first class if I was paying for it.  A grand total of 9 roundtrip flights and 10-12 hotel nights.  Didn't cost me a dime.  Going to do it every year.  The British Air deal was probably a once in a lifetime offer though so it won't be this huge every time.
