if youd be able to get that bonus even if you recently got the chase SW bonus id be okay with it. probably not great in the long run.

pretty good offer on the citi premier. points are not nearly as valuable (imo) as UR points but they are ok.

http://onemileatatime.boardingarea.com/2015/04/20/new-50000-point-bonus-on-citi-thank-you-premier-card/

are these points useful for anything other than flying to asia?

nevermind.  just saw that you can get 1.6 cents per point in cash aa ticket purchases.  or transfer to airfrance.  plus the $250 credit, if that actually works.  seems like a good deal.  i guess i need to apply.

if that airline credit actually works, that's $1050 for aa flights.  that's hella good.

yeah. singapore is a star alliance member so you can basically fly any star alliance airline (25k for RT in coach domestic, though 1st is 60k RT). or they can be booked for cash on their website like UR or MR points with a small bonus. the 50k points are worth like $650 doing that. and the annual fee is waived the first year.

$800 on aa.  it's a pretty great value for aa.  i mean, i know a lot of people value miles much higher than that for first class travel, etc.  but i struggle finding redemptions for coach tix to places i want/need to go that are better than 1.5/mile.  so 1.6 on aa with no need to look for availability, etc.  that's pretty great.

if you can get a better redemption with a transfer to singapore or airfrance, or whatever, that's great.  but with the aa value as a baseline, that's a fantastic offer (for me).

sys, I think that AA bonus only works with the Citi Prestige (if it even still works with that one) which has the $450 annual fee and the reimbursement. It could be a good idea to get that and the Premier though.

yeah, you're right.  the $250 credits are for the prestige too.  no wonder it sounded too good to be probable.

the 50k points is still ok, i'll probably still get it.  oh well.

don't worry, gfa, it'll only take you about 40 hours on the phone to get everything straightened out.

sys, here's how to make that AA thing work with the Citi cards. get both. get the $250 bonus twice while paying the $450 annual fee once. 100k+ points that you can use at 1.6 cpm. also get lounge access, global entry, etc.

http://www.milevalue.com/getting-both-citi-prestige-and-citi-premier-for-100000-bonus-thankyou-points/

so, you'd be getting $50 on that bonus assuming you remember to use it twice (seems easy to use though), ~$1,700 in AA flights, AA lounge access while you are flying those flights, global entry is worth $100 and pretty great if you are going to be travelling international and your local airport has a global entry screening place. I don't know, maybe I'll do it. mrs. dave and I each got the premier yesterday. I just paid that damn $85 TSA pre fee though. but I'd have to arrange my global entry appointment on a layover at some non-pud airport so I'd probably not get it anyway.

i'd have a hard time paying $450, even with the credits.  what if you end up not being able to use one?  too much pressure.

there's supposed to be a targeted 100k offer for the prestige though.  if you could get your hands on that for 150k plus the credits, now you're talking.

you could get the citi prestige and premier and a delta card, combine the points on the delta/air france/klm alliance thing, whatever it's called and have enough miles for an around the world ticket.

still have the $500 in credits left over to offset the annual fee.
