Any pros/cons to getting a checking account at Chase for just regular banking? Like would it make future credit card apps go better and/or would I be foregoing any sort of bonus situation in the future that I could get for opening an account?

It's normal'ish prices away from the resort. We always grab like 4 six packs of local beer on our way to the resort and load our room fridge with it.

guys, I read reviews about this hyatt in cancun I'm going to and there was something about people reserving cabanas at 4:30 am? WTF? I just want to drink fruity drinks in the sun.

They should have a 1 cabana per guest ratio at all times. That way you don't have to reserve one. Seems pretty simple really when you break it down.

sd is right, lot of cheaper stuff away from resorts which is where we've had our lunches and a couple dinners. heck even our two "fancy" dinners were only $100-150 so even that wasn't awful.
