Had a midnight fire alarm then no one saying anything when I got to the main floor and complained on twitter then mentioned it to the front desk lady. 14k spg points from a combo of the two trying to make me happy.

that's a crapload of spg points just for that

It was 3k pts per night last time I did it. One voicemail said 6k then a email said 8k so I was going to be pumped with either one. When both showed up it was heaven. I think it was as much a make up move from them as it was a thank you for pointing out dumb crap. Fwiw it was a garbage stay/hotel at the Sheraton Times Square.

The twitter mention was amazing. Literally just said 1am wake up with announcement I couldn't understand #sheraton do better.


Room has trash behind curtain. When guy came on I couldn't understand what he was saying. Then went downstairs and there was no one down there helping ppl. Seemed like nothing going on. Went back up, still going crazy alarm. Then they said clear. Then next morning I gave keys back and asked her what happened. They didn't even know it had happened so took down my number and story. Manager left vm saying it was a false alarm and that I was getting 6k pts. They literally hit my acct by 10am

I generally hate the thought of complaining. But it was a 1am alarm and more than anything there was a possibility of pojnts. And that worked out in spades!

a guy i know who talks to hotel maids told me that when you complain about the service (roomwise), whether it was good or not, they fine the crap out of the maids.  but as long as you get points.
