Some think Valencia won't make the roster but will be the first one brought up after someone goes down with injury.  Lough was probably going to go back down as well after Aoki was signed.

No options though. Think he would clear waivers?

That was a reasonable post but, with all the obvious caveats, the entire discussion is about what they are going to do going forward.

In other news, the Yankees just signed Brian Roberts.  I'm guessing that utility man Eduardo Nunez is going to get a lot of run with Brian Roberts, Jeter and A-Rod making up the 3/5ths of the Yankees infield.

Heard a stat that Brian Roberts has only played 30% of his teams games over the last 4 years.

It is undoubtedly the biggest downgrade at a position in the major leagues.

I love that we picked up Valencia, Moose is just rough ridin' dreadful against lefties, and this kid can mash the southpaws. It sucks that either Dyson or Maxwell are headed out of town, but if I'm getting rid of one of them then it's gotta be Dyson. Fast dude and all, but Maxwell isn't exactly slow, and he can come off the bench and be a home run threat. If we give a one year deal to a starting pitcher who is down on his luck, but primed for a bounceback year, then I don't really have a single complaint about this offseason.

dyson is way more useful.  pinch runner, defense, obp.  maxwell is good at smiling, striking out and hitting hrs, nothing else.  and he's horrible defensively (based on watching him, dunno about stats).

Guys on 810 were talking like Valencia did have options and that he'd likely by in Omaha.   :dunno:

Mlbtraderumors.com and kingsofkauffman.com say he's out. I don't know. There is probably a definitive source of that info somewhere.

Welp, according to Royals Review, "Valencia is also out of options, so with Maxwell, Dyson, Bonifacio, and Hayes as the reserves on this club, its hard to see how he makes the club coming out of Arizona. Is another deal in the works?"

given cains injuries the past few years, we should keep dyson because he plays a mean CF

I thought Bonifacio looked better in CF than Dyson. Dyson has speed to make up for mistakes but he seems to have alot of bad reads and a weak arm.

My video game GM move though: trade Butler and Cain to Toronto for Rasmus (maybe add some prospects each way to make it work). Rotate the DH between Maxell, whoever Bonifacio replaces in the field, and Perez days off catching.

Maxwell was super awesome when other teams didn't realize that he could only hit fastballs.

That being said, I will forever love him for providing me my greatest joy as a Royals fan, a GW walk-off Grand Slam in a packed Kauffman Stadium that led to partying with gE/Royals elites.

People really overestimate Dyson's defensive worth. He's a below average defender that can look like an average defender at times because he's super-fast. It would be nice to have some elite speed off the bench, but we have good team speed overall, so I'm not really worried about that too much. Maxwell has the ability to win a game with one swing of the bat, I'd rather have that coming off the bench. Just a personal preference though  :th_twocents:

yeah, seems more situations would call for a pinch hitter than pinch runner over the course of a season.  But I have no idea.   :dunno:

If you are an NL team, yeah. If you are an AL team with Billy Butler at DH, probably not.

Yeah, lot of 8th/9th innings where we need a run and Billy will lead off and get on 1st where Dyson just changes everything.

Giant dump truck is slower in my opinion. Good thing we can pinch run for either with a motorcycle (fast one)

Is there even a difference between a garbage truck and a dump truck? Aren't those just two different names for the same truck?

Both slow yes, :tucksinshirt: but I appreciate that Salvy runs to first base on ground balls instead of a slow jog.  It increases the chance of getting lucky and ruining a double play.  :untucksshirt:
