no stats (there should be stats, someone look for some), but it seems to be that a good pinch runner is way more valuable than a pinch hitter. with the pinch hitter, your benefit is the difference between the hitter you subbed in and the hitter you subbed out. so, like absolute best case scenario, where you're subbing the hitter's handedness and improving the hitter's ability you get like maybe .100 ba. usually a lot less, unless for some reason your pinch hitter is one of your best players, which would be a Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!) thing to do. on average, prolly more like .025-.050 (in the case of maxwell combined with yost, it's prolly 50:50 as to whether the sub's chances of a hit are worse than the starter's chances, but let's ignore that).
on the other hand, a really good pinch runner, for example dyson, can basically be used once a game to magically turn a single into a double. that has to be more valuable.
