Billy Butler is probably the most overrated and underrated Royals player in a while.
Sometimes I think of the Book of Job and how God likes to really eff with people.

butler is having a down year (like every rough ridin' other guy on the team), but he still has the best obs of any royals hitter.

Protip for ShellShock: If you'd like to talk baseball using stats and reasonable arguments I'm all for it, even if our views differ. However when your advice for Alex is "he needs a nice fat filly slumpbuster to break him out of it" it completely invalidates you.

Despite the lack of me being completely PC, Alex does need to get out of his slump...even the best players have them

I could not possibly care less about PCness of posters on this blog.

And yes, Alex needs to get some freaking hits.

I'm glad you're rational CF3! I'm hoping that tonight we just take it all out on the Braves and get things rolling heading into the break. Mendoza should have a good game tonight so we'll see if the bats come along also...

They have a huge national fanbase, because, basic cable. 1st time ever at the K, not a big surprise. Same thing happened when the Cubs were in town.

I hate people who were born and raised in KC and aren't Royals fans. (Not that they all were obviously, but still)

Moose and Hos are starting to ramp it up. Alex appears to be coming out of his recent slump. Team looks like it's getting re-energized, and a lot of the players credit Brett for his help with hitting and his presence in the clubhouse and dugout.

That said, none of this will change Ned. He will continue to make odd pitching changes/decisions and constantly change the batting order.

And at the end of the regular season, I'll have to find another post-season team to get behind, because the Royals won't be there.

And yes, Alex needs to get some freaking hits.

Really happy for Gordo last night. He's got 6 hits in the last 3 games now. Still trying to figure out how a guy goes nearly 7 weeks without a HR and STILL leads the team though...

Since I'm new here and don't want to go back through this entire thread, what is the board's thoughts on David Lough? There were several comments about RF being an issue for this team. He's leading the team in batting and is 5th in OPS. He's not an all star out in RF, but he is definitely not a glaring weakness.

Hitting should come along just as pitching gets worse. Despite being 1st in AL in ERA, Royals pitchers are 2nd to last in K's and right in the middle in WHIP. BABIP is 5th. It may be that the defense is playing very well and can keep it up, but I'd expect some correction and for opponents to score more over the rest of the season.

The guy that probably doesn't get enough criticism is Cain. He has steadily declined after a really good first month. Ned tried sitting him a couple of games, but that didn't do much good last night. I'd like to see them roll out a Gordo-Dyson-Lough outfield for a week and see what happens.

You understand Cain has to succeed, right?  Dayton can't admit he sucks

Cain's problem is that he's never healthy. He's eternally injured. I had high hopes that we would have kept Meyers and developed him in right and played Dyson in center. (or visa versa) I like Dyson's speed in center over Meyers though.

Dayton's mistake was taking Bubba and praying that he'll pan out in the majors. We need to improve our player evaluation if we're ever going to turn this thing around.
