I agree that it's in Gordon's best interest to stay in left field, fwiw. The Royals would have a better lineup with him at 3rd, though.

I would love for him to stay at LF.  Our 3B situation and batting in general is atrocious and that's the only reason it's being discussed.

Gordon's 3B fielding stats are almost identical to Moose right now, so the only change would be to have a non-GG LF in Dyson or Lough, but their fielding wouldn't be dramatic decreases.

You have to weigh the decrease of Lough/Dyson's fielding in LF to Gordon's in LF against Lough/Dyson's batting to Moose.

Pete Rose started as a 2B and won ROY, then moved to the outfield and played all positions and won an MVP, then they moved him to 3rd, then to 1st.

Jim Thome was moved from 3B the year after he won the silver slugger.

Number of gold gloves won by those two? Zero.

Darin Erstad won two gold gloves at CF then was moved to 1B and eventually split time between the two.

Placido Polanco won two gold gloves at 2B and was moved to 3B following the last GG.

Erstad only played CF because Edmonds was hurt. When he returned, Erstad was demoted to AAA and then eventually rejoined the team at 1B, even though he'd never played the infield. Edmonds got traded so Erstad played some more CF. It wasn't about taking one for the team, it was about him having to adjust to find a spot on the roster.

Polanco moved back to 3rd after he was traded to a different freaking team. He was traded from the Phillies to make room for Utley and guess who was still playing second when he was traded back?

Edmonds was traded after the '99 season to the cards and Erstad was a OF gold glove all star silver slugger in 2000.  He repeated the gold glove two years later in 2002.   In 2003, Erstad had 1.000 fielding in the OF in 66 games was cut short by the DL.

Chone Figgens came in and played well so they moved Erstad to 1B in 2004 to replace Spezio who bat .265.

Sounds like he was doing pretty well in the OF but they moved him to play Chone Figgins who was just brought up and starting his career.

The question was what to do when Dyson came back. The Outfield depth chart becomes stronger and then the debate becomes whether an outfielder can be moved to support another position or if one can/should be traded or sent down.

The only reason I brought up Alex to third is because he almost has as much mlb experience there as he does in left.

I understand that Lough may tank in the next month but the chances of Moustakas tanking the next month seem higher. Moose has been slumping for nearly a year.

2012  Batting Average by Month

June  .250
July   .247
Aug   .213
Oct.   .208

2013

The other part is the slim chance that Lough could actually be good. He is 27 and there are examples of people figuring out the game later in life. I would rather continue playing Lough until he comes off of his relative hot streak.

Tejada is on the decline and I honestly expect him and Lough would put up similar production so I would work on the younger guy.

3 theories on Moustakas

1. Ned Yost is married to Moose

2. Dayton Moore is married to Moose and Ned is forced to deal with it.

3. They are both married to Moose (Mormon Style but gay)   :sdeek:

Let's not start sucking each other's dicks quite yet. Wins against next to last place Minny and dead last Houston are expected, but lets see what they can do in this Detroit series.

Alex with an incredible diving catch in left. Next person who suggests he move to 3rd Base will get a dump taken on their car.

I don't know how Guthrie did that. No strikeouts. A bazillion warning track flyballs. And only one(two technically) mistake(s) to Cabrera.

Make that two dumps.  The people suggesting that should be ashamed and should never post in this thread again

Any chance we could win tonight and then sweep the Astros?

That would put us 4 games back from .500 with about 100 games left.

I think it would be a much greater chance that we will lose tonight and then get swept by the Astros........or maybe, that is what you meant to say?
