Slightly OT here but who did we get for Greene? Escobar and Cain?

Pretty sure Escobar and Cain came from the Greinke trade.

:dubious:  Anyway, I'm actually starting to like that trade, now that Cain is healthy and hitting.

There should be a separate thread just for posts about moose sucking
I think what my friend Mitch is trying to say is that true love is blind.

Cause you knew I mean Greinke.  I would be it on autocorrect but it's stored as a word so I'm not sure how that happened.

It's cause we are college fans first in which each game has so much weight. Being an MLB fan is probably the most stress free feeling in the world until the playoffs.

No way Butler continues to suck this bad. He'll get it figured out. Moose probably needs to be sent down but I think he struggled early last year, too and finished well. Françour needs to start hitting so we can get something decent in return for his sorry ass.

They need to send Moose up there with one of those giant red plastic bats that toddlers use. Holy crap he has been awful. Oh, and eff you too Wade Davis.

Dude, Wade Davis has been pretty rough ridin' good so far. Maybe he decided to say eff it and make the o actually do something for once.

Meh. Hosmer had 100% productive at bats today and we got to scherzer, just didn't come through with bases loaded like 3 times

No, Moose started well then sucked ass.  He has been dreadful for probably the last 4 months of ball he has played.

Guess I had it backwards. My bad. Also, I worry about what sending Moose down will do to his confidence. Some dudes need that, some dudes need to learn it at the big league level. I still believe that dude can be a solid major leaguer.

Think about what a game like tonight could do to his confidence... He was worth at least -4 runs. If we'd have just had Tejada in there at 3rd being completely average, we probably win by 3 runs.

Moose and Francoeur are a black hole in the lineup that threatens to devour the rest of the team. Francoeur is supposedly a great clubhouse guy but I think his constant and limitless ability to fail is rubbing off on Moose and Hosmer. He needs to go.

The minor hit to his confidence by going to Omaha and pounding some scrubs is nothing compared to what Verlander is going to do to him tomorrow.

It sounds like his issue is just bad habits, that were never corrected in his 12+ years of elite level baseball. This is crap that our minor league coaches should have fixed, IMO.

He'll be an alright player. We just don't know when. If he takes another 4-5 years to progress like Gordon, all of the rest of the pieces are likely gone, and he'll be useless to us unfortunately. I feel like our window is closing, and that concerns me.

Agreed. I believe this season is critical for him. If no, or little, progress is shown, the Royals need to seriously consider their options with regard to Moose.

Our window is only 2 years that is the problem.

that's why i hated the trade. we took a 5 year window and shrunk it down to two at a time when our team is still very young and still unproven with the only veteran influence being the worst everyday player in the game (though he does smile an awful lot). also, detroit is ridiculously good and we have no shot at winning our division during this little window. on top of that, we had to give up a potential megastar in this effort to finish 2nd in the division for a couple of years. kc sports gonna kc sports ya know.

I agree almost completely with your post, but Jeff Francouer is hardly the "only veteran influence" on the team.  James Shields is widely considered to be one of the best clubhouse guys in the game.  Throw in guys like oscar Chen, Jeremy Guthrie, Miguel Tejada and Alex Gordon (let's face it, he's not "young" anymore, and he seems like one of those "lead by example" kind of guys), and there's plenty of good veteran influences.

All that being said, I think the whole "clubhouse leaders" thing is kind of overrated.  The reason teams lose games is because they make 3 run errors, strike out or pop out with the bases loaded multiple times in the same game and walk 7 batters in the first 6 innings.
