Bubba should be looking at colleges to play football pretty soon. Do we want him at K-State or will we tell him he just doesn't have what it takes?

Escobar is probably my favorite Royal.  Then Gordon.  The others are good too, but these two seem like they're by far the best players*.

*Pitchers not included.

Perez is the team's best player. Escobar is 2nd. Gordon is probably 3rd.

Incredible that I was able to realize Bubba was a terrible draft choice and the Royals were not.

I never liked the Starling pick but I attributed that to high school butthurt.

Super glad that a lineup that struggles with consistency is playing 4 games every 9 days.

So guys, when does bubba get a crack at the bigs?  Is he still a few years out?

Apparently he is like 1 for 39 or something in single (double?) A right now, so probably never.
Yup, he's doing awful. That's what happens when you can only play 20 games in HS, in Kansas. Small sampling size in a shitty 4A league. I know he played summer ball too, but still.
JFC, Gardner-Edge is 6A and joined the EKL with other 5 and 6A teams since your old ass was in high school. Thought you covered/followed high school sports?

I think this might mean that the Royals have drafted more starting NFL QBs than the Chiefs have in all NFL drafts combined.

Not sure the Bubba hate here. When drafted, there was a big understanding that he was a very raw player and that while he played well for a crappy HS KS team, he wasn't gonna become an immediate player. He was drafted highly on potential which is always a gamble. The fact that he fell to 5th overall was a bit of a shock and instead of picking up a college arm (which is what the Royals said they'd likely draft first), they opted for the best player on the board. And to the vast majority of experts, this was the right move. Add that to the fact that he's Kansas born and bred, and our expectations for him are even higher. Am I a bit disappointed in his progress thus far? Definitely. But at 20 years old, I
am firmly in the wait and see department. Keep in mind Alex Gordon (2nd overall) was labeled a pretty big disappointment until two years ago (age 27). I'll give him two more years of development and if he's not at least in AAA then I'll start to grumble. We can all look back at a draft and say 'OMG I can't believe the Jets took Chad Pennington over Tom Brady. What idoits.' Unfortunately, that's just how it works sometimes.
