Perez doesn't suck.

In 74 AB's he has so far avoided sucking.

Have not seen him play.  Personally I would rather have Alex Avila or Victor Martinez than a second cousin Molina.

Victor Martinez is a DH.  Take a look at the catcher for the World Series champs for like the last century, teams prefer defense over offense in a catcher.  And if you've never even seen him play, why are you even commenting?  If you want to discuss things you know nothing about, I'm sure theres a thread about having sex with women somewhere around here.  Dumbass.

Statistics matter more than watching.  Victor Martinez has played some catcher this year.  He would be playing at least once a week if Alex Avila were not having a career year.

Here is the list of World Series catchers and their offensive and defensive WAR since the strike:

2010-  Buster Posey Offensive WAR: 3.2  Defensive WAR: -.1  (CS: 37%)
2009-  Jorge Posada oWAR: 2.5  dWAR: -1  (CS: 27%)
2008-  Carlos Ruiz  oWAR: -.2  dWAR: -.1  (CS: 24%)
2007-  Jason Varitek  oWAR: 2.4 dWAR: .6 (CS: 24%)
2006-  Yadier Molina  oWAR: -1.6 dWAR: 1.4 (CS: 44%)
2005-  A.J. Pyzinksdafki oWAR: 1.9 dWAR: -.5 (CS: 23%)
2004-  Jason Varitek  oWAR: 3.9 dWAR: .2 (CS: 23%)
2003-  Ivan Rodriguez  oWAR: 4.1 dWAR: -.1 (CS: 33%)
2002-  Bengie Molina  oWAR:   -.6 dWAR: 1  (CS:  45%)
2001-  Damian Miller  oWAR: 1.4 dWAR: .3 (CS:  36%)
2000-  Jorge Posada   oWAR:  5.6 dWAR: .1 (CS:  33%)
1999-  Jorge Posada   oWAR:  1.0 dWAR: -.3 (CS: 28%)
1998-  Jorge Posada   oWAR:  2.5 dWAR: .8  (CS: 40%)
1997-  Charles Johnson oWAR:  2.5 dWAR: 1.9 (CS: 47%)
1996-  Joe Girardi       oWAR: 1.1 dWAR: -.5  (CS: 27%)
1995-  Javy Lopez      oWAR: 2.4 dWAR: -.5  (CS: 22%)

Out of that 15 year sample we have exactly 4 catchers who could be called legitimate defensive specialists; the Molina bros., 1998 Jorge Posada and Charles Johnson.  The rest were mashers ('00 Posada, Pudge, Varitek, Posey) or just average players.

Debunked.

Lol at you calling Tek and Posada mashers.  Double lol at you thinking caught stealing percentage is the only way to gauge a catcher's worth defensively.  Triple lol at you for thinking any manager expects the middle of his defense to produce big offensive numbers.  Take a wild guess how many catchers have ever won a batting title.  (3)  Guess how many catchers have hit more than 400 HRs?  (0)  But you were saying something about catchers needing to be mashers, right?

1)  5.6 oWAR is mashing.  3.9 is mashing for a catcher.  But those are just statistics which are apparently no match for your discerning baseball eye.
2)  I included both dWAR and CS as two of many ways to guage a catcher's worth defensively.
3)  Never made that claim, but getting offensive production from any position that is shallow in offensive talent is an enormous advantage assuming the player is at least serviceable defensively.
4)   The rest of that is you babbling about things I never even talked about.  You said World Series champs were more likely to have defensive catchers and that defensive catchers were preferred by managers.  The first claim has been thoroughly refuted as far as the modern era goes.  Knock yourself out researching Yogi Berra or whomever the hell was catching when your gramps was collecting baseball cards.

To return to the original point, there are indeed very few catchers that are not a disaster offensively; I kind of doubt perez is going to be even a +oWAR player and it is definitely too early to make any serious claims about his defensive proficiency (particularly not on your Royal's network watching say so).  Carry on trying to change the subject, you are terrible at arguing.

Pretty sure your own stats proved that even the best teams seldom have offensively talented catchers.  The point is, Perez is more than good enough defensively to be a very solid catcher in the majors.  His batting hasn't been bad, either.  I'm sure you feel like your stats are a far superior way to judge a players talent than actually watching him play but then again, you're a full blown Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!).

Perez is only 21 years old.  He is in the majors for two reasons.

1.  He is a monster defensively.

2. The Royals have crappy catchers.

He has fine tools as far as hitting goes, and will improve as he ages.  Same goes for game calling.  Basically the Royals have a contenders defense/ line-up.
If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

Pretty sure they just said the Royals are the first team ever to have 3 outfielders with at least 40 doubles.

Please tell me there's a plan in place to kidnap her, brainwash her, and make her all  :kstatriot:. I'd buy season tickets if she was going to be at every game even if we're in the MWC.

Gorden is looking at a .300, 40+ doubles, 100 run season.  Not sure which one of you retards said he sucked but, well you're an idiot.  Also, Perez is hitting like .313 so whoever said he sucks is also an idiot.
