I'll say this, I disagree with any analysis of a trade based upon a single game performance. It's particularly shocking when stat goofs throw stats out the window to make said anecdotal arguments.
The idea that we needed Cueto to beat the Mets is very lol.
The Royals were 8 games up in the division when Cueto pitched his first game in KC. The lead never dropped below 8.5 games after that. Winning the division and making the playoffs was NOT a major consideration in the Cueto trade, getting an arm that could go win important games (which we lacked in 14) in the playoffs was, and if you really don't understand that I don't know how to help you.
-stat goof
I understand the "spirit" of the trade, but it's not how it worked out, and any stat goof ought to know better. He had a 4.76 era for us, fo Christ's sake.
Face it boys, our team and farm system is devoid of pitching talent. Jimmy Gallapogos is starting tonight. I don't think beating the Mets in 5 instead of 6 was worth another decade of futility. If you want to ride that train of delusion and ignorance, more power to you.
I think we're done here.
