The dude's had like 6 years to figure it out and still wont fix his rough ridin' swing.  Its infuriating.

13 At bats w/RISP. 4 double plays. 3 Strikeouts. 2 Total bases (on 2 singles)
So in 13 ABs he has produced 15 outs.
Good grief Hosmer.  Snap out of it dude.

It is just really hard to win baseball games with Mondesi at 2nd base.

13 starts at 2nd base for 2 guys ....combined for a whopping 7 total bases, 2 BB, and a .103 Average.
Whit in 1 game had 5 total bases and 2 BB

It's not just the average, Mondo looks so overmatched it's not even funny. He had 36 Plate App where he wasn't trying to lay down a sac bunt....and he's struck out 33% of the time

if you want to keep him on roster, that's fine, but the starts need to be Whit 75% Mondo 25% if you do this.

They jumped the gun on him, I can live with that. Now acknowledge the mistake and send him back down, it's clear he needs work to hit MLB pitching.

strategist idea:  i thought he should have bunted down the 3b line last night in his last at bat

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

I was mad at Ned for not pinch hitting, but maybe he was out of players or something. He still had Butera, right?

Maybe I'm wrong (unlikely), but I think it is pretty obvious we have no intention of resigning Esky and expect Mondesi to slide over to SS full time next season. As such, they're going to let him take his lumps at the plate this year, rather than wait until next season.

What sucks, is we know Cuthbert and Whit can handle the stick and play 2b, and we aren't getting to see them. Particularly Cuthbert who is an intriguing prospect and played exceptionally well last season as a 23-year old rookie.

pfffft

i would think being a dumb hick does not matter at all on Billy's likability scale, in comparison to his absolutely astounding penchant for GIDP's

i just wish billy would run the GIDP plate approach less often

i love 2012 Billy and i hate 2013 Billy. jury is out on 2014 Billy but GIDP'ing on a 3-0 count is a pretty terrible start

Billy is on pace for 952 GIDPs this year (not even mocat mathing)

omg Billy really tried to hit that sweet sweet GIDP spot just now

That makes sense, but goes against the "win this year" mentality that nearly every other decision for the roster was made with.

Hahaha I thought about that after I typed it. I think it was you that reminded us how much better Billys stats are career wise that even Gordon.

Last night's game:

You have to PH Cheslor in the 9th. Once Mondesi comes up in the 11th, there's nothing you can do. Also, Wood finally looked good. That was nice to see.

But that game is on Hosmer. He is dog crap right now. I can live with Escobar or Orlando hitting like crap, but good grief Eric get it together.

CF3's lineup idea:

1. Whit 2B
2. Gordon
3. Cain
4. Moose
5. Salvy
6. Moss
7. Escobar
8. Hosmer
9. Orlando

We can readjust when Soler is healthy. Until then, enjoy the 8 hole Hollywood Hosmer.

last night was the first time in Hosmer's career that it looked like his mind isn't right. he was visibly super pissed at the 3rd base umpire for calling a swinging strike ON A PITCH (the first of the AB) 4 FEET OUTSIDE THE STRIKE ZONE. this is not usually his body language, but he continued to glare in that direction after the AB as well.  :frown:
