I think if you only have bad starts 25% of the time, you probably are doing your job. And to be clear that meens almost all of the other 75%, you are having good starts, not just average 6 Inn 3 ER type starts

Kennedy has had 7 of his 25 starts be bad (28%)
His other 18 starts....His ERA is 1.66 and his Whip is 1.01
