It is, but that's a 4.50 ERA for the start.

If you mix in 7 bad starts. 7 mlb quality and 7 good starts.....your ERA probably is north of 4.50 overall

Kennedy has allowed 20 ER in his 18 good/decent starts
With 25 starts, that why he is 3.58

FYI....Volkie was 3.55 last year and was just inside top 20 in AL for those who pitched 140 Inn

Because of our great bullpen over the yrs, I say good start is a "Royals Start"..... at least 5.0 Inn, no more than 2 ER

We won 83% of time in Reg Season last year getting "Royal starts"

We are 45-12 in Royal starts this year (79%)

Last year it was 69-14 (83%)

It was under 80% in 2014 (maybe 74-75% I think)

There are always a few starts where a pitcher won't get 5.0 Innings....case in point Duffy first 2 starts on pitch count and Ian had a rain delay start where he only went 3.1

Last year 51% this year 46% of starts have been Royal starts

i'd like to see the mantid concentrate on scoring runs today and just let dick duffy and the defense take care of run prevention.  we all know of his extraordinary physical strength and stamina, but even rallymantis 2 can spread himself too thin.

before that inning, i was thinking if we could just ride the mantid for another 10 games or so, we could get in by going .500 or so after he drops.  but now i realize that the underlying mantisless team is horrible.  he's gonna have to make it through another 20 games or so for us to have a chance.
