Fair enough. Herrera and Davis's fastballs are down this year

There will be a game this month where we lose because of Herrera or Davis, and everyone will go bananas

To be fair, we are one the most spoiled fan bases in baseball history with our bullpen. We won 111 straight games until last August when leading after 7 innings. That's a ridiculous number. We lost like 2 more after that, but won a lot more. Then you go to leading after 8, and I think we have 1 loss in the last 2+ seasons or whatever. Its really a staggering stat of bullpen greatness.

wade davis has absolutely decimated anything that mariano rivera ever attempted to do

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

New warning: Don't get in a fight with someone who doesn't even need to bother to buy ink.

I added this up myself, but I think I'm right. On 9/11 and 9/14 of last season, Kelvin Herrera gave up 3 ER in back to back appearances. I like to think he was still recovering from chicken pox.

Since 9/14, including postseason:

23 appearances
24 2/3 innings
2 Earned Runs
34 strikeouts
ERA of 0.72

I would never due such a thing. This blog and K-State have turned me into one of those fans that's waiting for the bottom to drop out. Even tho we're champs.  :frown:

Mariano Rivera was great, but his greatness was in his consistency over 17 years. Clams is right though, he never had a stretch of complete dominance like Wade is in right now. I'm not sure anyone has.

I was this way until the 2014 playoffs. Now I just assume we'll comeback and win. Sunday's 2 run 9th and extra inning win felt inevitable.

I will admit that I didn't believe in the 8th inning in GM4 ALDS though. I mean, it was an absolute miracle.

Rivera has 9 seasons with a higher WAR than 2015 Wade Davis.  Wade had a lower ERA than all 9 of those seasons, a lower WHIP than all but 1. Rivera did have a lower FIP in 5 of those seasons though. I guess Rivera gets the better WAR for playing in a much more hitter friendly era. Bullpens are so much better now.

I imagine if bullpens had to face roided out Barry bonds, mark McGuire, sammy Sosa, etc they might perform worse than they have.

Saves are kind of a fake stat though. Like Wins. Does WAR take saves into account?

who knew mariano and goose had such a beef?
http://www.beyondtheboxscore.com/2013/3/12/4088360/mariano-rivera-is-not-the-greatest-closer-of-all-time

he's using some obscure stats in the yellow table towards the bottom that i don't understand

He's basically just pointing out that a lot of what Rivera did was in a clean 9th inning, and past closers entered the game often in higher leverage moments and pitched more innings. I don't put much stock into a Clutch Rating stat though.
