funny royal anecdote- i was laying on my couch today watching the game and knew we were going to fight back and win the game even when we were down 3-0 LOL.

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

Although Gore is essentially one-dimensional, he has the ability to turn a game around quickly, as we saw today, and as we've seen before. I've never been a fan of consuming a 25-man roster spot during the regular season with a one-dimensional guy...until now. I'd be tempted to keep Gore when Dyson comes back if Orlando is hitting well against both righties and lefties (something he hasn't done well in the past), and send Fuentes down. Plus, I believe Orlando has a better bat and better speed than Fuentes (at least at this point in their respective careers). And Gore can steal us a few games.

Gore can come up and down during the season. I value off days for Cain and Gordon too much to keep Gore on the 25 once Dyson is healthy. Plus, Gore needs to stay in AA and see if he can become a MLB player that can do more than run.

What would Gore need to bat in the minors to be considered as an every day MLB player?

Don't think everyday. That's not what Gore needs to do. But right now he's a player that the coaching staff doesn't think is capable of playing defense or batting. The season has had like 14 off days so far, but Cain and Gordon can't go 155 games this season. Roster needs flexibilty long term on the season

Agreed.

Chris Young's career numbers at Minute Maid:

3 starts, 17.0 IP, 6.35 ERA, 8 HR, .619 SLG (despite only giving up 13 hits total with a .941 WHIP)

Good article on Moose so far. He has the potential to break Balboni's record. It would be incred.

What is the argument that outfielders can't play 155 games?  Especially ones in their prime or close to it?

Well Cain and Gordon have both had injuries in recent years. Cain has never played more than 140 games, and Alex was very durable until the groin tear, but he is an aging player we just gave a huge contract to, so there's an investment there the Royals ought to value and desire to protect.

Of course they CAN play 155 games, but is it wise to wear down your star outfielders over a long season and risk injury? Especially when this team expects to play an extra month of the season?

The argument is rest on the legs during the year will help keep players fresh and protect from injuires.

I suppose. I don't have numbers on injuries for past performance, although it makes sense that the more games, the more opportunity for injury. For OF (with qualified PAs) since 2005, those playing 155 or more games have a WAR / game that is 29% better than those that play fewer 155. Point being is that the better players should (and typically do) play more.

Only 5 games in, but early returns for starting pitching have been very good. 6 runs in 27.4 innings. 32 strikeouts and 13 walks. Only 1 HR given up.

I agree that Gore can be a game changer, but when Dyson is healthy he gives us similar skills, but he can be trusted to platoon as an outfielder. Gore needs to prove that he can do that as well and continuing to develop as a hitter/fielder for a couple months in the minors would be good for him and the Royals. Then bring him back when the rosters expand and put him on the playoff roster.

This organization is at the point where every minor league resource is to be used to help the big league club at all times. If Dyson is either playing half the time or is injured, Gore needs to be in KC ready to come in and steal games like we did last night. I never would have guessed a pinch runner was as valuable as Yost/Moore have proven, but it's a weapon we need.

I'd be surprised if Gore turns into a capable big league player at this point in his career. Dyson has improved more than I would have ever thought, but I'm sure his minor league stats were better than Gore's.

Gore's minor league batting stats are pretty similar to Dyson's. Gore gets on base more and bats for a slightly lower average than Dyson did (though his .284 last season was a better batting average than Dyson ever had). Dyson may be a better defender, though. I don't think I've ever seen Gore on defense.

People are overstating Gore's impact. I love it when he's in the game, but last night's game and the 2014 game against the White Sox in September are the only ones where he had a big impact on the final outcome. It doesn't make sense over a long season when you are restricted to 25 players on the active roster
