A lot of dumbasses in here outing themselves, about the lack of zeal they have in their lives.

Today's key: walks. No walks from Young.

When I actually think about the game, I get super nervous.  I haven't been this nervous since game 5 of ALDS.

I feel better about this game than I did last night or tomorrow.  :dunno:

i didn't feel good about last night because of Cueto's past playoff road history, but was cautiously optimistic about us scoring runs. i didn't think he'd set a playoff record for most runs given up in 2 innings.

tonight i expect typical Chris Young, which is a much higher basement than Cueto, but also lower ceiling.

Lets just say Id rather have a Cueto reaction to failure on my team versus Bautista.

This is so stupid. And 3:00 is like the absolute worst possible time for me, I'll barely be able to follow either game.

The storyline surrounding this pitching matchup has been how Chris Young, the game’s most extreme flyball pitcher, will fare pitching in the home run haven that is Rogers Centre. When you coax as many flyballs as the soft-throwing Young does, it’s nice to pitch half your games at Kaufmann Stadium, which happens to be home to the most spacious outfield in baseball. That said, Young can take some comfort in the success of a pitcher in the opposing dugout who has gotten by in Toronto this year with a flyball-heavy approach: Marco Estrada. Like Estrada, Young generates lots of weak contact and tons of popups. It’s certainly possible that the Royals starter surrenders some home runs in Game Four—these are the Blue Jays after all—but the home park is by no means instant death.

Another thing to consider about Young’s unusual profile is the type of hitters suiting up for the Blue Jays. We know the Blue Jays hit a lot of dingers and we also know that that flyball hitters do relatively worse against flyball pitchers. Collectively, the Blue Jays had a flyball rate only about one percentage point higher than the league average. As a team they leaned toward lifting the ball in the air but weren’t exactly at the extreme end of the spectrum. However, there were some exceptions.

more on the matchup.

One of today's starters is a six-foot-ten Sasquatch who is making his first start of the postseason, while the other is a 40-year old knuckleballer whose exchange to a club north of the border may have been the difference that netted the Mets - who acquired Noah Syndergaard and Travis d'Arnaud in the swap - an NL East crown this season. The two soft-tossers offer a change of pace from their hard-throwing rotation mates, and one gets the feeling that there are going to be a lot of pulled baseballs in this one – we may not see a pitch over 90 mph for the first five innings.

some of you guys need to learn to enjoy the process and not the result.

I am pretty excited! I will get to watch the first couple of innings before watching some middle-school soccer, and then watch the last couple of innings.

I will savor the moment, 'sclams. I will smell the flowers.

i'm going to float this "man in white" out there- is there any chance cueto bombed last night intentionally, in an effort to lower his market value and make himself more affordable to the royals?
i would guess that he doesn't want to leave this team next year and that explains why he did what he did, on purpose.
