Anyone done the stubhub playoff ticket game? I've won and lost this thing. I could have bought SRO last year for game 7 for $250, but waited for the last hour to see if they'd go down, like they did for game 6. Right now they're at $140, but I still feel like they'll drop tomorrow for the game. @cf3, what do I do?
Over the course of a 41-minute top of the eighth, Houston’s fans went from cheering out of thirsty anticipation, to cheering as a way to ward off the monster in the closet, to not cheering at all.
there really aren't words to describe it. i was so so bummed at the beginning of the eighth.
I am not a very good fan, and even worse on twitter. I'm willing to be a bad fan if they keep winning and making me look like a fool.
Family and I were at KFC last night after the game (famous bowl) and the guy in front of me who was probably around 80 years old had a Royals shirt on inside out. I could tell because it was Royal blue and the tag had the MLB logo on it. Well he reaches back to the tag and feels it and then turns around and tells me that he turned it inside out after the 6th inning because he was so disgusted and then he forgot to turn it back around before going out for some celebratory KFC. We both had a good laugh.
A personal note. My goodness - how so much in life can change - in such little time. Before 7:30 tonight we were a city still basking in the glow of an unbelievable playoff baseball game where our Kansas City Royals snatched victory from the jaws of defeat in absolutely stunning fashion over the Houston Astros. Let's face it. The Royals were all but dead going into the 8th inning of today's game. And then it happened. One base hit. And then another. And still another. And before you knew it - the Royals had not just tied the Astros but had taken the lead. So confident going into that 8th inning - somebody in the office of the Texas Governor tweeted "congratulations" to the Astros heading to the American League Championship Series. The tweet - taken down - but not before screen grabs were collected. There will be a deciding game 5 of the ALDS at Kauffman Stadium Wednesday night. The Royals are alive and well. We've seen this before. in 1985. And certainly last October. The Royals - coming off the deck to surprise and delight an entire city. And then - something else happened. A fire call on busy Independence Avenue up in Northeast. A big building - burning. Stores on the street level. Apartments upstairs. People trapped. Kansas City, Missouri Firefighters - doing what they do - running into something that the rest of us would run away from. We know lives were saved tonight. And at the same time - we know lives were lost. Two Kansas City, Missouri Firefighters were pulled from the building after a massive collapse. Their brother firefighters - doing all they could to save them. And suddenly - now - we're a city in mourning. We will pray for everyone who put their lives on the line - their families - their friends - and everyone in the Fire Service tonight and in the days to come. Sports are and can be a wonderful diversion - but it's impossible to ignore what happened tonight. That baseball game Wednesday night will come and go but we should never forget how so much in life can change - in such precious little time.
