you guys confuse "disagreeing with the way a player is used" as hating. I love Esky.

Except for the 109 times in 2015 he reached via single, BB, or HBP you are absolutely correct.

i got forgot to include hbp, but without those:

salvy - 3.8% of the time clears the bases, 4.5% leaves himself in scoring position, 19.0% clogs up first in front of esky.
rios - 1.0% clears, 5.8% scoring position, 20.7% clogs up first.

so there is some tradeoff between clearing the bases in front of your worst hitter, vs having a really slow guy on first that is unlikely to score on most esky hits vs having someone very unlikely to clear the bases, leaving your worst hitter in a greater number of highly leveraged at bats.

of course, the obvious remedy is to pr gore for salvy any time him clogging up the bases is important.

yes.

it's so amazing to me that Esky is the only Royals player having an abnormally (not due to age) down year. Remember last year? woof.

some time in early july i think last year, i made some post basically on my hands and knees, bemoaning the fact that "if the royals could just hit their MF'ing career averages, they'd be unbeatable".
this year just about everyone is smashing career records right and left, and the royals are unbeatable. i like this year better

infante's decline is probably abnormal.  i think you'd expect some age-related decline, but he fell off a cliff.  rios also has probably played worse than could expected for a normal 34 year old with his career numbers.

omar would have come out of his extended slump but wasn't given a chance

He had the 7 rbi game at Cleveland and then injured himself the next day. We'll never know if he had turned the corner or not.

Can you imagine having to fight it out with another scrub team just to be fed to the Lions in KC?  Must be so embarrasing.

Posse stat of the day....

Gordo, Zoby, LoCain, Hos, Mo, and Moose all had an OBP in a Royal uniform between.348-.377
All 6 were in the top 33 in the AL

Last year we only had 2 above .340 (.351, .349)

the baseball philosophy of "swing at anything, regardless of count" is so stupid I can't begin to wrap my brain around it.

you saying you know more about baseball than the greatest coach in KC history?

I can't wait to take my grandkids to see the gigantic statue of Ned and telling them stories of the teens Royals. Will be great.

tanaka not fooling anyone.  keuchel doesn't look great either, but the yankees haven't done anything other than work his pitch count.  hopefully he's not going to be able to go deep with that short rest.
