I was just talking to Judy in Accounting. We were just talking about the Royals and how great it is that we're playing playoff games again.

how is Judy doing today AJ?

actually, cuthbert might give you more versatility in covering for whoever you had to pr for than orlando/gomes.  cuthbert might be the knife to cut the orlandian knot.

i think rany got to caught up in "who's the better player?", instead of "what do i need to be able to pr for this guy?".

moosey
salvy
gordo
rios

i think we should switch sal and gordo but that ruins the LRLR thing at the bottom  :dunno:

what about switching salvy and rios.  salvy more power to clean up after gordon.  rios slightly higher obp and less likely to double play/more likely to sac fly.

the baseball philosophy of "swing at anything, regardless of count" is so stupid I can't begin to wrap my brain around it.

It used to be, before confirmed stud and innovator Ned Yost proved everyone wrong.

CF3 would be right if everybody was striking out. but the only player who is striking out is alex gordon (he's batting #8 now i guess)

I'm saying Ned's success as a manager is more about his ability to get the players to believe in themselves and one another than his ability to pull off tactical moves

I'd rather not have Salvy clogging up the bases in front of Esky.

Lineup really doesn't matter THAT much, and yes SD, its hard to argue with the results the past 2 years. But "hey Escobar just go up there and start swinging!" is stupid. If it gets him and the team confident and comfortable, then, well... I guess that's great and I'm all for it.

Only Jose Altuve put more balls in play than Alcides Escobar. 553 of Escobar’s 662 plate appearances ended with a ball in play. The team put 119 more balls in play than any other squad. They were the only team to not strike out 1,000 times.

ah what the hell. swing away fellas

luckily for you, salvy basically never walks or singles.

what if pitchers have become so accustomed to optimized hitters not swinging on certain counts that on those counts they confidently use more of the plate, leaving themselves surprisingly vulnerable to stupidly aggressive hitters?

I think this has been the case for much of Escobar's career. I think scouting is too far down the road on him now though

Except for the 109 times in 2015 he reached via single, BB, or HBP you are absolutely correct.
