attention joda, pamplemousse, etc:

if you felt the need to vomit, would you walk to the bathroom and do it privately in a stall, or would you stand up and get everyone's attention and do it at the front of the conference room?

maybe think about that before you post again ITT

but seriously, don't Cueto and Volky have the most interesting hair of any pitching duo we've probably every had?

this is a point that often gets lost amidst all of our on-field success.

LHC Bill Snyder has more hair than Volky. There's nothing interesting about it.

"To those of us who have lived and died with this franchise for the last 30 years, this is all very confusing — almost as confusing as rooting for a team that’s resting its regulars for the playoffs with five weeks left in the season. That the Royals are the anything of baseball is disorienting enough. For a generation, the Royals were props, redshirts existing only as plot devices. That they are now central characters in baseball’s drama is heady enough; that they are regarded as villains is icing on the cake. Your favorite team can inspire worse emotions than hatred. Pity, for instance."

That was a really great article about baseball's best GM. I think he undervalues Ned Yost, though.

he makes the offseason acquisitions seem pretty disastrous as well.  which is weird.  everybody was ready to run Butler/Aoki off.  Volquez was a solid pick-up.

I'm taking lil sd to his first roys game saturday. you can find us out by the kids stuff up until probably the 2nd inning when we'll go home. pretty excited. also he's going to be hosmer again for halloween this year. hos is going to sign all his lil kid uniform and props for us. so that'll be cool. I'm going to have him sign last years and this years and frame both of them after we trick or treat this halloween.

SD make sure and stop by guest services behind homeplate. They'll print lil' SD a certificate for his 1st game, and its says he's an official Royals fan as recognized by the Royals themselves.

Some stat breakdown on Gomes, last 2 years vs LHP ---

He has a .387 OBP
He walks 16.1% of his PA.  This year 16.0 is the 4th best (vs LHP/RHP) in MLB
His Slug is .402 ( That's lower than Salvy .425 and Moose .447)

Big question is are those numbers worthy of getting a start in a playoff game, leaving Rios/Infante on the bench.  Gomes is worse than Rios on D, and would be by far our worst player in the field.

He won't sniff an at bat vs a RHP, so even if he starts, there is a very good chance he only plays 6 innings max.   By then, a RHP is likely to come in to face the bottom of the lineup or we pinch run for him if he gets on in the 6th/7th

The 3 best pitchers on playoff teams in the AL are lefties. What are his career numbers vs Keuchel, Price, and Kazmir?

Ned Yost says he will consider using Alex Gordon as his leadoff hitter, but not until Gordon shows his legs can handle the strain.

it's like everything that everyone said yost was too dumb to do he's like - "yeah, obviously.  i'll do that when it matters".

Yost was having none of the Gordo-Moose go 1-2 earlier in the year, but with Zoby switch hitting in the 2 spot, he is more open to making the change (moving Gordo up, Esky down).  Esky 6 week slump is just making this move more obvious too

Gordo won't be playing every day, so I guess for the time being, he doesn't want to disrupt the lineup yet.  Oohhhhh good ole Ned.
