Biggest concern is the K numbers are down. Last night he wasn't hit particularly hard (unlike the Baltimore game), and I'll take a small moral victory in the 5th and 6th inning, where he cruised.

aside from the 9 hits, yeah he wasn't hit too hard.

I mean, he was basically pitching BP for the first 2 innings.  gave up like 6-7 hits, 40 pitches, 3 runs.  this is fine for J-Gutz, but not an "Ace".  he's not missing bats - throwing everything over the middle of the plate.

It wasn't BP at all. Hits happen.

Wanna hear something weird? My biggest concern right now is the pen. Madson/Herrera's health, and Holland's inconsistency.

sys, it's 14 home and 17 away.

but after the current homestand it'll be 6 home and 17 away to finish.

He has a whole month to get it together, Belvis. He'll be fine.

no doubt.  not too worried.  but, let's call a spade a spade - he was Stink City last night.

Correct, hits happen.  happened to be peppered all across Kauffman last night.  it was basically a meatball factory on the pitcher's mound last night.

Last night was my picture of what a "bad game" for an ace should look like. Struggled early, didn't have his best stuff, but eventually recovered and got in some really good innings and still managed to go 6.

The problem was it came after 2 absolutely terrible starts in a row. Those were really, really bad, last night Cueto had a bad start, but he finished strong.

I'm a little worried, but I'm not in panic mode.

nobody should be panicking on 9/2.  but, anybody who isn't a little concerned with 3 bad starts in a row is either a dummy or a liar.

Since Cueto's first appearance on July 31 the Royals are 2-5 when Johnny Beisbol starts and 17-6 when anyone else starts. His "ace" status is revoked until further notice.

Keep burying your heads in the sand about Cueto's problems. Facts are facts: When he pitches for the Royals they lose 71% of the time.

Is it so much to ask an Ace to give us 7 innings of 2 to 3 run ball 2/3 of the time? That's all I want. He's not giving us that. We could have gotten this production a lot cheaper.

I predict we get this from Ace Ventura tonight.  dude's back dialed-in.

Gomes is in RF and batting 6th tonight. We've started 6 OF in the past week.
