The idea isn't that he needs minor league baseball to figure anything out. The idea is that we don't have to watch him give up 6 runs in 5 innings while he figures it out. The timing worked out great, though.

Everyone - I am officially uneasy about the HFA lead. 5.5 is a nice cushion but it was like 50 games 1 month ago. Someone ease my concern and I'll make it worth your while.

after each team had played 101 games, the Royals had an 11 game lead on Toronto (61-40 vs 50-51)

Toronto has played 31 games since then and divided the Royals' lead exactly in half, to 5.5 games.

they did this by going 25-6, while the Royals have gone 19-11 in their 30 games.

the Royals will finish 19-12 because that's just what they do. 99-63. amazing season. Toronto would have to finish 24-6 (49-12 overall) to finish 99-63. nobody goes 49-12 AppleJack.

I attribute this to Cueto. After his (Johnny) last 3 starts I need to find something positive. (I'm not worried though (well not too much (I think)))

We are basically already division champs, so we have the luxury of not worrying about Cueto. He has a whole month to start pitching well again before the games start mattering.

last year the royals went from 48-50 to 72-56 (that's 24-6), and everyone remembers how hot they were going into October. Except, after they got to 72-56, the Royals closed out the season 17-17 (89-73).

ok, that makes me feel a little better.

basically I'm just not counting on those scumbags up north slowing down. We just need to win at a .600 pace and we'll be good. However, I WILL NOT tolerate fans being ok with losing games because we already have the division. we need that extra game at the K.

You hear me RATM? It will not be tolerated.

AppleJack, the 2001 Seattle Mariners finished 70 games above .500 (116-46) and did not have a 49-12 stretch (although they came pretty dang close)

yep. .600 gets us to 99-63.

i mean, Toronto could go absolutely nuts (23-7) and still only be 98-64

CF3, on a scale of 1 to 7 with 7 being extremely worried, how concerned are you about Cueto now? I'm a 6.5.

4.

Biggest concern is the K numbers are down. Last night he wasn't hit particularly hard (unlike the Baltimore game), and I'll take a small moral victory in the 5th and 6th inning, where he cruised.

Dream Scenario:

KC wins HFA. Play the winner of NYY/Tex. NYY/Tex both throw their 1's.

HOU/TOR goes 5 games. Both throwing Price/Keuchel twice. Houston wins.

KC plays pattycake with HOU for 5 games. Boom. AL Champs.

Jays have a super pud schedule also down the stretch.

rest of the season:
Royals opponents are a combined 110 games under .500
Blue Jays opponents are a combined 72 games under .500

those 7 games vs NYY will be very compelling baseball. can't wait  :excited:

also AJ, one more thing: we get to play the freaking White Sox SIX MORE TIMES!!!!  :Woot:

aside from the 9 hits, yeah he wasn't hit too hard.

I mean, he was basically pitching BP for the first 2 innings.  gave up like 6-7 hits, 40 pitches, 3 runs.  this is fine for J-Gutz, but not an "Ace".  he's not missing bats - throwing everything over the middle of the plate.

He has a whole month to get it together, Belvis. He'll be fine.
