I mean, I never said he should win a Cy Young, I said he should be on the post season roster. My word....
yeah, and i'm not trying to argue that he's horrible - if you discount his colorado numbers, he's probably a little better than average. i'd love to have 26 guys on the playoff roster, but the nazis that run this thing won't allow it. morales is just the least valuable of the 8 possible relievers (and obviously i think gore is more valuable than a guy whose main purpose would be to chew up innings if you're getting blown out). young is simply a better pitcher. duffy is a better pitcher. basically any starting pitcher is a better pitcher than all but the most elite of relievers. most relievers are relievers because they aren't good enough to start. maybe you don't have the confidence in young and duffy because you haven't seen as much of them in that role, but they're better pitchers.
so then it's madson or morales. madson has better career numbers, outside of a few outings when he may have been less than 100% healthy, he's been better this year, and obviously the royals think he's better. morales is a lefty, that's basically the only reason to favor him over young or madson. i don't think that's enough of a reason.
