so i guess the idea is don't need so many defensive outfielders.  he can hit lefties so you've got a slightly better ph option?  tough luck for orlando.

I can't imagine they'd start him in RF (he sucks at D) and who on the team are they going to pinch hit for? I don't get it.

Paulo would seem to be the odd man out for the post-season. They have to get Gomes on the 40-man or 25-man by 11 CDST tonight for him to be eligible for post-season.

I mean, let's say a team brings in a leftie late in a game. You're not PH'ing for Hosmer, Gordon, or even Moose. Dyson would be the only one. Unless you're PH'ing for Rios I guess. I don't get this at all. I don't see where he fits, unless you're done with Rios.

against lefties in an important at bat?  salvy.  moose if he's on a downswing.  dyson if he's in.  if it's a super important at bat, esky.

oh wow, i didn't even think of that possibility.  you'd be giving up some defense (i typed that with a straight face), but i think it might be worth it.  that could be very interesting.

although i think you'd keep rios on the roster and it'd still be goodbye to orlando.

I can't see a scenario where Ned PH's for Sal or Escobar. There are maybe times he should, but I'd be SHOCKED

Can someone explain to me what a trade deadline is? Because apparently it's not what it sounds like it is.

he lost a game seven last year while letting salvy hit.  that sort of thing can change a man's opinion.  they talk up butera's defense all the time and kept him over the better offensive catcher.  i think they're set up to ph for salvy if the situ is right.

with esky it'd be harder because they don't have anyone else who can play a decent short, but if it's the last inning, how could you not?

july was the non-waiver deadline.  august is the with waiver deadline.
