I'm just asking how you'd use the rotation

I mean, honestly, I like what you put down. I would be ok with that. I guess it just depends how the series is going before I would overreact and toss Cueto on 3 days rest. Also, Ventura might work his way to the #2 spot before the season is over.

the only way cueto pitches on 3 days rest is if its an elimination game and were asking 4-5 innings out of him. otherwise, the rotation will be normal.

That's why I said this.

Yep, ideally we're in a position to have Cueto in a Bum-ish role if needed for game 7.

But then again, hopefully we're going all John Tudor on the Cardinals in game 7, so we won't need Cueto anyway.

:D

The only scenario to pitch Cueto on 3 days rest is if we were down 0-3.

I wouldn't even then.

Me neither. But this is the only time I'd even consider it.

This August is boring.  I've actually turned two games off this week....trying to save myself up for October.

the giants did it the right way, pitching their guy with normal rest for two starts, then bumping him in for however many you could get from him in game 7 (if needed).  handicapping your best guy in one of the two games he's going to pitch anyways doesn't make any sense.

if the royals don't feel like they have a 4th starter worth crap, then it'd make more sense to make game 4 a bullpen game and then roll back into game 5 assuming cueto can/will have to go 7, 8 or 9 and get them back rested

alternatively, you could get creative and go with three starters each going 1x through the lineup with duffy, young and medlen/ventura.  then your one inning bullpen guys stay as normal.  lots of options better than asking cueto to do something he's never done before (he's also never been good in the playoffs before, so you're really asking him to do two things he's never done before).

Nah. I'd throw in Medlen after Cueto.  :D

So you'd go:

1: Cueto
2: Volquez
OFF DAY
3: Ventura
4: Cueto
5: Medlen
OFF DAY
6: Volquez
7: Cueto?

Like that?

Agreed

Its gonna be:

Cueto
Volquez
Ventura
Duffy or medlen depending on the rest of the season.

You just use an early hook on anyone but Cueto if things get rough.

Only way it would ever be Medlen in game four is if they give him JGuts starts the rest of the season so he can stretch his arm out and  don't see Ned doing that.  I wish he would, so he could have that option, but I just don't see it.  But I agree you have to use Cueto as much as possible to get to the world series and then go with it from there.  Can win it if you don't get there is my opinion.

I know, but that's like worse than calling me a dumbass. It's like "what in the eff?!" translates to me "This guys a rough ridin' idiot and he should be in a special home somewhere, where he doesn't touch or say anything to ppl, because he's so rough ridin' stupid, he should really just die already" :frown: :D
