Only way it would ever be Medlen in game four is if they give him JGuts starts the rest of the season so he can stretch his arm out and  don't see Ned doing that.  I wish he would, so he could have that option, but I just don't see it.

did you see where about a week ago yost said that he'd like to see medlen get a start before the season ends, and yesterday where he said he wasn't going to answer a question about if guthrie would start his next scheduled start?

You guys thinking that we should start Cueto (or anyone else) on short rest in an elimination game are forgetting that the next game is a must win as well

Yeah, but you can skip your #4 starter and move on to your #2 in the next game. If we have Duffy or Guts at #4 for some god awful reason, it sort of makes some sense.

Edit: Nevermind, that's still short rest for the #2. Still doesn't make sense.

Say we are down 3-0... I'd much rather go with some combination of Duffy, Medlen, Young, Guts to get through the first 5-6 innings then HDH in game 4, then use Cueto, Volquez, Ventura on full rest to go game 5 - 7

true story, wetwille.  i sat 1st row behind home plate.  directly behind home plate.  i could feel the heat coming from the friction of the ball cutting through the earth's air as it was pitched to home plate.
yes, i was that close.  great seats.

this is so stupid. you have to have 4 starters. if not then all 3 guys are going on short rest. A rested Duffy/Medlen is a better option than a not rested Volquez/Ventura.

8man.  the reason you do it is to have the ace pitch three games instead of two.  i don't agree with it, but that's why you do it, not because game 4 is more important that game 5.

wacky was right about that.  you just invert the ace and the 4th pitcher, and then only the ace is on short rest.

That puts your 4th pitcher against the other team's ace in game 5, though. You are a lot more likely to get run support for your 4th pitcher in game 4.

It's like you guys all missed my post earlier today where I said pitchers going on 3 days rest have been less than good the past 15 years.

Well, we all watched our favorite team lose to a pitcher on 2 days rest just last year.

if the royals find themselves in the exact same situation as the Giants did last year in Game 7 of the World Series, oh wait we won't because our bullpen is amaze

The Medlen era is upon us.
