I really don't want Holland as our closer anymore. Also I think our strategy to rest the pen is backfiring a bit.

Yep. If guys are hurt, put them on the damn DL. If they aren't, they can pitch an inning every other day. This week off $hit doesn't work. Good relievers have to get into games to stay sharp.

Why did ned even out rios in that position?  He should have been on the bench with zobrist at the plate

What are you talking about?
Sorry guys. Didn't watch most of the game. Didn't realize Dyson pinch ran for zobrist.

This is where I'm at. And if we've already used them too much the last couple years, resting them a couple extra days now isn't going to matter.

Its weird that sys and fanning are just fine with our better players not being in the game in the end.
Dude, are you serious right now?

He said his stuff was fine, just command problems. He left some pitches out over the plate

 :blah:  :blah:

He threw 4 pitches in the dirt.  3 of the 4 hits were hit solidly.   What pretty pitches or strikes did he throw??

That doesn't seem weird for sys in the least. Pretty sure he feels the same way about basketball. Maybe I'm remembering wrong.

yeah, ned did nothing wrong last night. we had a cushy lead and had supposedly the best set up man and a still good closer to shut it down. if there is a bucket with 4 good rocks in it and 1 bad rock you didn't do a shitty job because you reached in and drew the bad rock. hindsight is stupid overall but in baseball it's probably the stupidest.

i mean Holland gives up 4 runs and gets 0 outs, and CF3 zooms in on the heart of the problem, which was Dyson successfully pinch running, stealing a base, and scoring an insurance run

I'm not really upset, but if we lose home field by one game I will remember this one first.

there's going to be a worse one than this. Too many games left.

Welp.

i didn't think it'd be the next day! damn.

It wasn't hindsight wanting Zobrist in at the end of the game first of all. I criticized it at the time. Dyson stole a base, yeah, and that was fun, but Zobrist would've scored anyway with Hosmer and Morales's hit. I don't like subbing out Zobrist, and it was a mistake. Mocat's right that the move isn't why we lost, but having Zobrist in gives us a better chance to win. Not sure why that's even being questioned.
