ESPN showed it in slow motion. Instagram pic is better, but was pretty great. LO's interview on ESPN was pretty great. He talked about how great Cueto is in the clubhouse. Then the douchebag in the studio makes his comment about Cueto not being a Royal next year because he is a 100% rental. Good lord dude, shut the eff up. If Cueto works out as expected over the long haul this season (I think he will), we should work hard to keep him. The guy could be the first true ace we've had for a long time. That will, of course, strain the budget tremendously. We'd have to find teams willing to assume Rios' contract, and probably Infante's. Neither is a given.

Alex Gordon can opt out after this season, and most expect him to do so to test the free agent market. I suspect he'll move on if the money is right. As much as it pains me to say this, and although I love the guy, we've done damned well since Alex went down.

And I'd love to keep Zobrist, although doing so would require sacrifices of other players.

I think we'll see at season's end that Cueto and Zobrist will be guys we want to keep. The question will be, at what price? I hope we find a way to do it.
