This guy is one of our top prospects, but he plays SS. I'm not sure Raul can play 2nd, but I'd be willing to experiment with it.

i'd like someone to tell me why hosmer couldn't play 2nd, though. i'm sure he'd look stupid on double plays or whatever, but someone tell me why he'd be so bad that it wouldn't work at all.

I think Hosmer would be really good in right field, too.

if you can name one other left handed second baseman to ever play at the college level or above then i will answer your question.

of course a ss could play second. he's a freaking ss. 2nd to short is where you would have questions.

baseball is actually pretty mean to lefties when you think about it. like, you should just train all lefties to pitch the second you figure out they are lefties. or make a clockwise base path all lefties league.

it really is pretty sad because the daris family is a middle infielder family but my son is left handed. half the positions in baseball immediately off the table and hey have fun in the outfield for the next fifty years bud.

catching bad also because most batters are right handers which means you're having to throw over them on throws to second.

i really spent an entire year/two years debating on whether or not to let my son throw with his left before he started tball, etc.

also i'm not really picturing in my head why being lefty would be so awkward for double plays very well. the royals should play hosmer there so i can see it demonstrated.

i'm pretty good at watching and reading about baseball, but i have no idea what it's like to play it. i knew handedness was important for hitting, pitching and for playing first and catcher. i didn't realize it mattered for the other positions, so i never paid attention.

probably easier for a ss coming to second to transition to 1st as a lefty. but them going to first running the other direction would be very lol. you want to throw across your body, not whatever the other way is called. a 2nd baseman coming to second would be spinning to his right and throwing across the base path to go to first. it would would be super awkward. I'm probably not painting a very good picture of what I'm seeing in my head.

Yeah, it would be by far the hardest thing to do in baseball. A lefty rolling a double play off the bag. I'd love to watch it tho, just not on my team.
