Yeah, no longer can Guts' near 6.0 ERA be attributed to sample size. And these Mariners are not good. We've maximized the miracles at this point.

if you get a miracle every time, it ceases to be a miracle.  he still has a pretty good miracle to implosion ratio since the first couple of weeks.

guys, my sis just cheered me up. she lives in Seattle and is taking her kids to the game tomorrow. They made posters for the game and she blog texted me photos of the posters. She has 2 boys. At Christmas they were like "Uncle CF3, we like the Royals better than the Mariners! But we like the Seahawks more than the Chiefs."

they are v smart kids

My sis sent me a blog text picture of the 8 year old crying his eyes out after game 7 last October. Just like Uncle CF3.

Real convo I had with the 8 year old nephew on Father's day

"Uncle CF3, what should we put on our posters???"
"Make one with a bus that says "Hey Hud! Who's driving the bus?" You'll get on TV"
"No. I'm making one that says "Go Royals". Your idea is weird"

he was the best pitcher in the royals future's game a few years back

My biggest issue with Guts is how streaky he can be.

Last year he started rough, 6 of his first 9 starts he gave up 4 ER or more
Then he became good streaky. 7 of 8 starts solid.  His worst start of the 7 solid was 6.2 and 3 ERs
Then bad streaky ( 3 of 4 starts giving up 5+ER). After 2 good starts, he again has 3 of 4 Bad starts giving up at least 4ERs.
Then 6 of 7 good, where he gave up just 5 runs in those 6 good starts.

Where does he go from here tonight??  He started the season poorly again.
Then had 3 good starts.  He got bombed in NY but bounced back with 3 good and 1 Ok start (ok start was 5 inn 3 ER)
I just hope tonight is not the start of 4 of 5 bad starts where he is giving 4+ ERs

posse stat of the night...

Our last 7 games vs a starting lefty, we are 0-7.  We only have 30 hits and 5 ER in 47.0 Inn off of the 7 starters.    And we face a lefty tomorrow night

Great stats as always. That said, Guts being streaky is not news.

He's worse than normal this year. An inning less per start, ERA higher by 1.8, more walks, more hits, less Ks than last year. He's worse by every measure we have.

Some good news.....

Minn has lost 12 of last 19
Det has lost 15 of last 24
Clev has lost 11 of last 18
ChiSox have lost 12 of last 18

So Minn Clev and the Sox are a combined 15 under .500 in roughly the last 3 weeks, and Det is 6 under .500 in little less than 4 weeks.

I was just watching Game 7 of the World Series again. In the 2nd, Moose flies out to Left Center, and Alex moves to 3rd, he scored that inning. If Moose was this year's moose, the left fielder probably isn't shading him so far towards center, and that ball hits the wall and 2 runs score and we have Moose on 2nd, up 3-2, with no out.

Didn't you watch fever pitch? This is like the buckner game. We're you eating ice cream in a dark corner while doing this?
