Good. You know my saying:  When a first baseman is fat, you know he's got a big bat.

When a second baseman is small, you know he can ball.

When the catcher is over six feet tall, you know he can throw out them all.

When a pitcher is tall, you know he can throw the ball (fast).

When your closer has a beard, he rightly should be feared.

we were 90 feet away

 :dubious:

imagine if we'd have been 80 feet away with gore on 4th and everyone in the stadium knowing he'd have to steal home for the tie.

actually looks like it would have to be

71' 1.5" if the mound is still going to be 60' 6" away.

couldn't you place the bases anywhere you wanted, without having to move the mound?

i'd like to incentivize speed, but it should still be a little bit hard to get an infield hit.  so maybe 84-86 to first, then second should be fairly short distance because it's pretty easy for the pitcher to hold runners on first.  third should be farther from second, since third would be the easiest base to steal.  the third-fourth distance should be maybe just a smidge shorter than 1st-2nd.  and obviously the distance from t4th to home should be the shortest to facilitate the most exciting play in the sport.

i think an optimized pentagon would be more fun.

Maybe there should be a standard rule that the total lengths between all base paths must be 360', but you can arrange them in your ballpark however you want.

It would pretty much have to be an "optimized" pentagon but still keeping the foul lines at 90 degrees.  Having a field with 108 degree lines would increase the width of the outfield quite a bit to the point where a 4th outfielder would be necessary.  Unless we want 4 outfielders too!!!
