he was pretty good last year.

to be honest, i have no idea how much money a given player deserves, so i have no opinion on if we overpayed him.

That's a really good pickup. He's not as good as Shields, but he's still pretty good. If Ventura can go more innings than he did last year, this team should be pretty damned good.

Yeah, I'm pretty nervous about Duffy, too. It would be great if the Royals could find another starting in the $10 million range.

Well we've won 7 World series games since 1984, they've won 1. They are aging and will have crap to show for it.

It may just be me but, I'm very excited about the Alex Rios signing. I have been a fan of his for a while due to his speed (though it has declined with age obviously) last year he had a batting average at .280, which is just that average. With his base on balls at 23, the only thing he needs to work on is his strike outs (as a little guy he did have 8 home runs which is an obvious improvement, if he can get between 5-10 this year I would be stoked). I still don't know what to think about the Edinson Volquez signing, as a Pirate last year he did pitch nearly 200 innings, he also had a 2-1 strike out to walk ratio, he went 13-7 which is a good thing, but I also know his post season was 0-1. We have to get to the post season first we need to focus on that, but does this mean we have a replacement for James Shields who we most likely lose due to salary? What do you all think?
