predictos for Melk Man are 5/65 range.

WHY SO MUCH!!!

That sounds about right, considering Billy just got 3/30.

Your assessment of Quisenberry is the most mind boggling thing I've ever read in this thread. He's your avi for crying out loud!

There's a difference between favorite and best

I understand that, but you need take a look at what Quiz did from 80-85 when he finished in the top 5 of the Cy Young 5x and top 10 of the MVP 4x.

Tartabull hit a home run in my first Royals game. Dave Winfield did too, but he was playing for the Yankees. KC lost.
If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

Guys, I think it's safe to say that CF3 just pulled this list out of his butthole. He probably doesn't even know who half of these guys are.

Top 26 Royals, judging them by career.

1. Brett
2. White

NEXT TIER, 3-8 in some order:
Gordon
Wilson
Otis
Sabrehagen
Splitorff
Leanord

NEXT TIER, 9-16 in some order:
McCrae (Hal duh)
Beltran
Damon
Tartabull
Sweeney
Appier
Butler
Greinke (wasn't here long, but Cy Young stud)

NEXT TIER 17-21 in some order:
Quisenberry
Gubiza (#2 all time in IP WOW)
Patek
Busby
Mayberry
Bo Jackson

NEXT TIER 22-26 in some order:
Cone (Cy Young, but not here long)
Tartabull
Soria
Holland
Gura

Guys like Wathan, Dejesus, Randa, Al Fitzmorris etc are high on like games played and hits and stuff but were so average that they don't make my list. Salvy, Escobar, Cain, Hos, Moose, Yordano, Duffy, all could be on this, some as soon as next year but just haven't played enough IMO. Fun exercise thanks for asking me to make this. Billy is in the 9-15 tier but probably 14th or 15th IMO. That's very good and we should applaud him.

edit: somehow I forgot Bo freaking Jackson.

RD I moved Tartabull up to Tier 3 but I can't move Damon down to Tier 5. I appreciate your contributions, IRL bud.

He was the best Royal (other than George Brett) when I got into collecting cards. He was also a stud and a badass.

This was in the first Royals team set I ever got.

He was a Donruss Diamond King for crying out loud.

If you had asked me to guess who led the AL in Slug % in 1991 my guesses would've been:

Cecil Fielder
Jose Canseco
Frank Thomas

Those would've been good guesses but I'd have been wrong because it was top 15 all time Royal Danny Tartabull

Willie was amazing. His book is awesome. He was like the best football/baseball/basketball/track star in New Jersey in High School. He was gonna go to Maryland and play football but the Royals offered him cash to come play ball so he did.

The WAR list is a fine starting point but in no possible way is Kevin Appier the #2 player in Royals history.

wasn't he there forever?  seems like he was there for a long time.  that's probably why.

billy occupied the spot of being the best player for a garbage team for a lot of years. it's hard to rank that person in the list of all time bests. not like it's hard to rank them IN it but hard to decide WHERE they rank in it (if they do belong in the rank). does that make sense? It does when I say it in my head.

I agree.  Padding stats during horrible years doesn't automatically put you in best player talk.

It's not like basketball where a good player on a bad team can rack up stats. If you're the only good hitter on a bad team, then you rarely get any good pitches to hit, because they can just pitch around you. This whole padding stats on a bad team talking point is rough ridin' dumb.

Helping your team win games counts for something. His hitting was always good (well, not so much this year, but usually) but he wasn't good or even average at anything else. Like I said earlier, you have to be amazingly good to be an all timer as a DH.

too bad he didn't fall far enough for the royals to resign him at an attractive price. unless salaries are way way up this free agent season, i don't think 3/30 is an attractive price.

They are/will be.  3/30 isn't an attractive price for the Roys.

Not nearly as dumb as trying to put Billy Butler in top 10 royals talk by simply pointing at stats.
