for example, in 2014:

At Camden Yards:
Baltimore hit 107 HRs in 2731 AB
Baltimore opponents hit 68 HRs in 2809 AB
Total: 175 HR in 5540 AB (31.7 AB per HR)

Away from Camden Yards:
Baltimore hit 104 HRs in 2865 AB
Baltimore opponents hit 83 HRs in 2698 AB
Total: 187 HR in 5563 AB (29.8 AB per HR)

 :dunno:

camden - 1.275
kauffman - 0.880

everything i'm seeing shows a big difference (tho i don't understand why everywhere has different numbers).

http://www.fantasyalarm.com/articles/jeffmans/18308/mlb-park-factors/

that is runs, not home runs.

It's home runs. You have to scroll down to the second table.

sorry, didn't scroll down

Camden Yard/s is a pretty BA name for a ballpark.  Like, classy.

actually, they do it per game, not AB.

Home: 2.1605 HR/game
Away: 2.3086 HR/game

2.1605/2.3086 = .936, which is the number i posted earlier

The stats based upon 2014 show Camden Yards as more of a pitcher's park, but all of the other stats for every other year that I've seen show it as one of the hitter-friendliest parks in baseball. The table sys linked shows that it is easier to hit home runs out of than Coors Field. I think that this year might just be some weird outlier for the ball park, largely driven by the Orioles' excellent 2014 pitching staff.

this is just 2014, and just HR (not runs)

http://espn.go.com/mlb/stats/parkfactor/_/sort/HRFactor

i think it compares a team and opponent's HRs at home vs the same team and their opponents on the road

all the links i linked are hrs too, not runs.  but all time, not just 2014.  it looks like 2014 was just an anomalous year.

yes but does it compare it the way ESPN does (see above), or does it just say "175 HR were hit at Camden Yards, compared to the league average" to get the factor?

comparing a park factor for just one year is dumb.

Ned just told Nate Bukaty he's going Shields/Ventura in Baltimore.  :Woot:

Also, only 11 pitchers, so I'd imagine the roster will be:

Pitchers:
Shields
Ventura
Duffy
Vargas
Guthrie
Davis
Finnegan
Herrera
Holland
Frasor
Collins

Position Players:
Salvy
Kratz

Hos
Infante
Moose
Escobar
Billy
Colon

Gordon
Dyson
Cain
Aoki
Willingham
Gore

Ibanez/Nix are left off. JMHO

this is maybe my favorite CF3 post ever

I'm pretty stoked that I know every person on that list except the ones left off :excited:

This is what makes baseball so fun....so many games so lots of data to breakdown.

On the Vargas Home / Away splits...

At home: (4.53 ERA) Cleveland 2, Detroit 2, Texas, Minnesota, Oakland, Tampa, Toronto, Angels, Seattle, SF, St. Louis, White Sox, Colorado, Boston

Road: (2.73 ERA) Cleveland 2, Detroit 3, Texas, Minnesota 3, Oakland, Tampa, Toronto, Angels, Seattle

So probably a little easier road team opponent with the Twins 2 more times...but it's pretty close.  Which when I put this together I was thinking his road opponents may have been way more pud hence the better record and ERA.

My guess

Game 1 Shields
Game 2 Vargas
Game 3 Ventura
Game 4 Guthrie
Game 5* Shields (normal rest)
Game 6* Duffy
game 7* Vargas/Ventura (whoever pitches better first time around)

* -  LOL these games won't be needed

Glad to see Ned and staff adjusting...my prediction was based more on Ned getting stuck in "what worked before" and heavy lean on veterans hence Guts in #4
