Sorry I didn't check in last night. We stayed and soaked it all in for a long time, and by the time we unpacked the car and came inside, I knew if I didn't go right to bed I'd be up until 4 AM reading and posting and watching highlights (had to get up early to work).

That was a party last night. A party. After Alex's triple, they body language of the Angels just changed. It was over right then. I was sitting next to a dad and a girl who was probably about 9 or 10. I asked who her favorite player was before the game. "Eric Hosmer! I had to go to bed before he hit the homerun in the game the other night, but I got to see it on a replay. I really want him to hit one tonight." Her wish was granted. She asked me "Who is your favorite player?" and it struck me how much of a TEAM this is. I know that point has been made, but this TEAM does not rely on a few guys, and everyone contributes and seems to be pulling for one another. I mean, you should've seen how crazy the crowd went for Terrance Gore pregame when they did player intros. It was just so fun for our city to unite and celebrate something good.

Screw Baltimore. LFG.

Guys how happy for Alex are you? I was really excited for him to get that hit. When he came up, I know many of us were remembering his first opening day. He came up with the bases loaded, crowd going nuts, and struck out swinging. Alex got the hit last night. So awesome.

Happy for CF3 and others.

Just think when I was a youngster, like late elementary school, all middle, all high school and a couple of years of college . . . this was an every year thing.  Exciting stuff.

Anybody worried this 5 day break is going to kill our momentum? I was kind of hoping Detroit and the Orioles would have to grind it out over 5 games, but now I'm thinking it might be a good thing that Baltimore is sitting idle just as long as us.

And after starting the post-season with 4 straight wins, 3 in extra innings, will we bounce back if we lose? I'm kinda worried about losing a single game, which is ridiculous but true. :ohno:

Good problems to have, I guess. Don't know why I'm being such a nancy neg. It should be all gravy at this point.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, K-State fans could have beheaded the entire KU team at midcourt, and K-State fans would be celebrating it this morning.  They are the ISIS of Big 12 fanbases.

That's the way it should have been. This entire post-season has unfurled just the way it should have. The tension and the four comebacks in the WC game were just what this organization, fanbase and to a lesser extent team needed. The collective release of pent up frustration and angst to end that game was phenomenal. The two extra-inning affairs in LA before coming back to Kansas City were better played in California. To come back to the K with the series for the most part being a coronation by that time, and to roll to a win last night was just perfect.

Once Alex got his hit you knew it was over and the mood and atmosphere reflected that. Everyone needed a celebration, and that's what we got for eight innings.
If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

Alex's double, especially Billy going 1st to home + fist-pump.

I was talking to my GF when it happened and said something along the lines of "Well, this will score 2 and give us the lead" and then the announcer starts talking about Billy coming home and it became "Holy crap!"

Sending Billy home and to steal I thought were good calls (provided the steal was predicated on the catcher/pitcher sleeping on him).  Keep the pressure on and force the Angels to make plays to win.  Also, make the Orioles pay even a little bit of attention to first no matter who is on there.  Yost seemed to learn to let Shields work his way out of a jam.

When I was leaving the stadium, giving various family members all kinds of high fives, double high fives, low fives, chest bumps etc., Metalhead ran up out of nowhere and jumped into my arms out of pure jubilation.  The look on that guy's face was one that I'll never forget.  He was so happy you guys.

What a special season this is turning out to be.
