The only thing I care about this week is Royals baseball.

So Seattle has a brutal schedule these last seven games.  Four at Toronto and three at home against the Angels.

Surely we can keep pace with Seattle and remain a game ahead of them without too much concern, right?

Today was fun out there.  Great outing by Guts.

For tomorrow suspended game...here is the lineup with moose up which if the pitcher announced stays in, Ned says he will PH. Hosmer, Salvy waiting on the bench.  Unlikely win obviously but might be fun to see who Ned (the brain) comes up with.

N Aoki RF
O Infante 2B
A Gordon LF
B Butler 1B
S Perez DH
L Cain CF
M Moustakas 3B
E Kratz C
A Escobar SS

willingham, dyson, esky, then hopefully aoki.  is that possible?  were willingham and dyson already used in that game?

No position players were replaced...so yes Willingham and Dyson are available.  I'm not excited to see Willingham PH

If Kyle Crockett, the lefty who was announced before the game was suspended, actually takes the mound, and Ned consequently plans to PH for Moose, Willingham and Dyson are the most logical RH choices (given Ned's propensity to follow the book). I'd use Dyson to get his speed on base. We're down 2 runs and need speed on the base paths. We need speed to do what speed does.
Dyson is a lefty
I love Willingham. I wish he could lock a lot of his teammates in a room with him and force-feed his approach to an at-bat. It would do wonders for the offense.

Since joining the Royals...

83 appearances, 17 hits, 2 dongs, 11 walks, 23 K's....243 average, .361 On Base....meh.
That .361 OBP is the best on the team, and down two in extras, it doesn't matter whether the leadoff hitter gets on base via a homerun or a walk.

Toronto and especially the Angels have nothing to play for though.  The indians have at least a small chance, so you'd figure they would go hard.

Right?

Maybe willyham isn't a horrible PH choice if he can coax a walk and get Dyson in to PR. I'd probably PH Hosmer for kratz and go from there with the rest of the lineup. Would lose the DH moving Salvy to catcher if he got that far.

Under that scenario, I think I'd rather put Dyson up to bat second than pinch run him. Stealing 2nd in the 9th down 2 doesn't help all that much, and Dyson wouldn't be much of a double play risk. That would put speed at the tying run instead of the meaningless one if Dyson manages to get on base.

Can we not use Nix? If not, Gordon.

I couldn't remember if he had already played in the game or not. Or really if he was even on the team at that point.

Yes, Seattle and Cleveland are legit threats. Toronto has tanked lately (2-8), but mathematically isn't eliminated. I think they'll compete well, but I have no idea what the Angels will bring.

I'm thinking that if we go 5-3 in these last 8 we'll have a really good shot, maybe of winning the top WC spot.

Some of you guys are coming across as legit crazy people.
"I guess it would be okay for our best guy at getting on base batted in a situation where getting on base is literally the only thing that matters."

"When our tying run is at the plate, let's pinch hit our light-hitting fast guy to avoid a double play"

Anything less than 5 wins and we'll be shaking in our boots on the last day of the season.

Not use Hosmer? Sure the Dyson run doesn't matter but it's not like we don't have a deep bench. Then when Hosmer gets on PR Gore.

Nix didn't play.

Dyson is slightly more likely to get on base than Hosmer. It's probably a wash, and there is almost no way we win. Maybe we should just stick with Kratz. He has 2 home runs in just 26 at bats.

FWIW, Petro is on a Royals rampage today. He's very upset with the squandered opportunity Saturday, calling Salvy's mistake perhaps the biggest Royals goof ever. Also, reportedly there were celebrations after the win Sunday and Petro doesn't like that as well.

Do fans of consistently good teams have to care this much every day for the last few months every year? This is exhausting.

He didn't even have time to get to the Ibanez PH. The Tigers tried valiantly to give us a W that day and we refused to take it.
