Things that will happen over the next nine months: Royals miss the playoffs after Chris Sale blanks them in the final game of the season, Dayton gives Yost a vote of confidence after the World Series while many quality managers are looking for jobs, the Royals play sub .500 ball through the middle of June and Ned is given his walking papers, Dayton hires best bud Jason Kendall as interim manager, everyone cries.

It worked out for the Indians in major league and their coach was a buffoon as well. They even had to face the Yankees!

We have 13.06 games left and if the season ended right now we'd be in the playoffs. We have 7 games against a team we've beaten 66.6% of the time. We can still do this, even if we don't win the division.

Lou Brown? I don't think they portrayed him as a buffoon.

13 games is still a lot, and all along we knew the key games were against the Tigers. We basically just forced ourselves to play without margin for error, but this is not over.

Wow......looks like the Ned heckling section grew by leaps and bounds overnight....

Well, in essence we are 2 back.  We just got swept by the Indians and lost 3/4 to the lowly BoSox at home.....

Guys, I really hate to say it, but I think this team is toast.

Prove me wrong Royals, prove me wrong please!!!!!

P.S. I see Butler did not play again....wut is up with that guy?

I'm not letting myself post in the other thread for superstitious reasons (has nothing to do with ERiI), so someone go tell those guys that 88 wins still gets us in the playoffs. Everyone seemed to accept this 6 weeks ago. That's 7-6 down the stretch (assuming the suspended game is a loss).

The only chance of winning the division is a sweep against DET next weekend. Anything less than that falls short.

Yes! (especially for the division)

The thing is (at least right now) everyone in the wild card chase is playing around .500 baseball; no one is better than 6-4 and no one is worse than 4-6 in their last 10. And I'd say we have an easier schedule than the As, Mariners, Blue Jays, and Yankees the rest of the way. The Indians are about the same as us, fortunately we have a 5 (well, 4.5) game lead on them. It will be key to at least split in the 3.1 games we have left.

And there is still a little hope left in me that we can somehow channel that August baseball and go 10-3 or something crazy the rest of the way.

But we've reached the point where the following things have to happen or we're screwed:

1. Billy or Willingham has to hit some homeruns. Enough of this Aoki DH. Even if slumping, play someone who at least CAN hit a homerun.
2. Duffy has to pitch, and pitch well.
3. Can't lose a Shields game.
4. No more losing games due to errors. Our offense cannot overcome that. If we lost a game by the other team scoring more, that's fine, whatever, but can't give them runs.
5. Bullpen can't blow any more games. That means Crow (who was sent to the minors like 2 weeks ago, then put in with runners on in a crucial moment when Frasor, Hererra, or Finnegan would've made more sense even if you don't want to use Davis/Holland early in the game) can't be in any meaningful moment. If Crow is in, we better be up  or behind by more than 4.
6. We need to win a game we should lose. A fluke. The other team drops a pop up, a walk off balk, something weird.

Listen, I criticize Moose plenty, but at this point, can we just put the best person at each position on the field in the same game?

The sky is falling.
If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

Players with little to no value, who should be released to make more room in the dugout:

Nix
Downs
Lane Adams

Duff says he's ready to pitch tomorrow, but the Royals want him to pitch a simulated game instead. Guess who? Liam Hendricks going tomorrow.   :frown:

Tonight doesn't just feel like a win... It feels like we're going to absolutely bash these mother roughriders into the ground.

This is definitely the right call, if the training staff has any worries about possible injury by going full speed tomorrow, then he should skip a start. Ned's fuckup yesterday multiplies the negative effect though.

I agree with being cautious--no sense risking Duffy if they're not sure he's 100%. My point is that it's unfortunate Hendricks is the chosen option. He may be the only option, but it's still unfortunate.
