Off days for our Royals, such as Thursday. What does Ned do in the hotel room? Order up some porn flicks, watch the QVC babes, or spend hours agonizing why he isn't as good as Tony La Russa?   :dunno: (Alternative Ned activity suggestions are welcome of course).

weird post, but i bet he puts on some tennis shoes with mid-ankle socks, goes for a nice jog. comes back makes some coffee, showers, then heads down to the meeting rooms to watch some tape/review some stats about the upcoming team they play. deli sandwiches for lunch that the hotel has provided, out to the stadium in the afternoon for players that want to take some bp. back to the hotel in time for dinner, probably a steakhouse, medium rare, bourbon on rocks. gets a little chatty, excited about the game tomorrow, just wants to talk baseball with his bros. back to the hotel by 9 pm, watches sportscenter, double checks his lineup and pitching plan for tomorrow, goes to bed.

Your post suggests Ned is a competent manager. I disagree. The Royals tend to win in spite of him. Although I suspect he spends a good deal of time studying everything, he is, by his own admission, a manager who manages on "gut" decisons, which all too frequently don't pan out for him or his gut. Casey Stengel did that. Ned is no Casey Stengel.

it's too late for any noteworthy adv stats, but i will say, these are hosmer's combined 2011-2013 stats, by month, and it is encouraging:

April .217/.303/.350, 5 HR, 21 RBI
May .256/.297/.393, 7 HR, 37 RBI
June .276/.333/.428, 9 HR, 38 RBI
July .293/.346/.447, 9 HR, 38 RBI
Aug .295/.356/.442, 11 HR, 43 RBI
Sept .294/.339/.453, 9 HR, 40 RBI

this year so far:

April .303/.358/.384, 0 HR, 9 RBI
May .246/.275/.352, 1 HR, 14 RBI
June .195/.240/.292, 3 HR, 12 RBI

so obviously he is having a down year even for his typically down early months. but we have 3 full years and 1681 at-bats that tell us Hosmer has BY FAR his best months from July-September

oh and btw so far this July he is 5 for 6

Pretty straight forward stuff, but still.............

Only 2 of the 6 pitchers we face in the CLE and TB series have sub-4 ERAs... And those 2 have to face YV and DD!

Time to rake and gets some Ws, you guys!  :royals:

Before the trip I said I wanted a 7-2 road trip. If we're gonna contend we have to beat up on the loser teams. I really thing its gonna happen TC

Looks like he is getting worse this year as the season goes on, but every other year he has gotten better. I'm not really sure what to make of that. I don't think July will be worse than June, though, just because June was so terrible.

This summer has been nice and cool for the most part, especially compared to other summers during Hosmer's career. Maybe he just requires scorching heat to play good baseball. Somebody should compile his stats by temperature.

84 games in, a little more than halfway. Anyone have a favorite game or moment from the season so far?

I have a couple:
1. http://espn.go.com/mlb/recap?id=340518107 Sunday afternoon game vs. the Orioles, I was there dressed to the nines and watched Alex hit 2 out. Wow. That was so fun.
2. http://espn.go.com/mlb/boxscore?gameId=340603124 Really fun back and forth game that we took the lead in the 9th on. It's always great to beat the Cardinals especially in StL.
3. http://espn.go.com/mlb/recap?id=340614104 Glorious Saturday on the South Side. Duffy was just unreal, and Moose and Billy went yard. This was smack in the middle of the 10 game win streak and it was an effing party.
4. http://espn.go.com/mlb/boxscore?gameId=340617106 We took over 1st place. BBQ CHIPS
5. http://espn.go.com/mlb/boxscore?gameId=340415118 One of Yordano's best, I just remember being really excited about him after this one.

What games or moments did you enjoy thus far in the year?

1. Game 4 vs St Louis was great baseball. http://espn.go.com/mlb/recap?id=340605107 Wacha vs Ventura, Royals score 3 in the 6th on Wacha. 7th, 8th, 9th were all stressful but Wade and Holly sealed the deal, Royals win 3-2 and we took 3 out of 4 from the Cardinals.

2. Those 2 beatdowns of Scherzer and Verlander where we dropped 22 runs. Wow. i don't know about you guys but i was completely going berserk like this for 48 hours
Oh, and then we won again the next day to make it 10 straight and take 3 out of 4 in Detroit. Unreal.

3. Scoring 5 runs off Grienke was fantastic. Not because it was Zach and omg my name is generic kansas city dumbass royals fan and i'm super butt hurt because a player won a cy young here and then wanted to leave; more because of how dominant he has been this year. I mean his ERA is like 2.5 or whatever, and we pounded him for 11 hits and 5 runs in 5 2/3. That felt really really good.

Alright but we're officially on a zero tolerance policy with him for stupidity. We're about to run off about 7 in a row and we don't have time for bad posts.

May 17: Royals 1, Orioles 0
http://espn.go.com/mlb/boxscore?gameId=340517107

This is a pretty easy one for me... This game had everything:
- It was the only game I've attended, as I was there with about 25 bros on a bachelor party. We sat in Pepsi seats in right center and got smashed on all you can drink BL's  :drink:
- KC took the lead on Billy RBI in the 1st and just rode it to victory
- Ned got tossed in the 9th
- The game was a tidy 2:37 long
- And oh yeah, Duffy was perfect through 6 2/3. Probably the closest I'll ever get to seeing a no-no/PG in my life.
