if i could go back in time and tell 5th grade james shields to play soccer instead of baseball - i would do it.

you should go back to 7:32 tonight and tell yourself not to make this dumbass post as long as you have the time machine fired up

you're gonna regret this post so much you stupid idiot

final score: we got our asses completely kicked courtesy of one james shields.

if you keep managing this thread like ned manages the royals don't think i won't don wakamatsu your ass

if you ever compare me to Ned Yost again our IRL friendship is over and I'm 100% serious.

i did not think that if we all turned on James Shields that it would be completely unrelated to whatever Wil Myers was doing  :sdeek:

me neither  :frown:

i hated the trade, but thought that james would be really good for us. i can't believe he's falling apart like this. when we need him most.  :frown:

baseball is so weird. last year he got like, 10 runs of run support over the course of the entire season and still won 13 games because he rocked last year, and yet in June this year in 5 starts he was undefeated despite a 4.88 ERA. why even give a pitcher a W-L stat? the same reason j-dub hangs the Indy loss on Alex Smith, i guess

alex smith gets what he deserves (unless it's a contract extension. he absolutely does not deserve that)

but lets save these little convo's for the chiefs thread in the fall  :D

Alex Smith quite playing in the Indy game at the same time the rest of the team did. Clearly Reid deserves most of the blame, but Smith is 2nd. No player has a greater impact on a football game than the QB.

how concerned is everybody that Cain is striking out on purpose 24/7 these last few games?

I wish Smith would join the Royals organization. It would be fun tracking him through the minors.

when you guys are done discussing Cain, how about Raul Ibanez going 1 for 4 in his (2nd) Royals debut? he also saw the most pitches of any Royal last night (19)

YOU GUYS: Mike Moustakas' OWAR is exactly 0.0 (it has been negative all season until now)

imo that is pretty huge news (not gE'ing)

Let's take these in order: Not worried about Cain. He's been good at the plate lately so 2 crap games aren't getting my attention.

Ibanez, if he provides ANY offensive help, is a ginormous victory.

Moose's OWAR is good news. I'm proud of him.

let's compare Machado and Moustakas, two AL 3rd basemen with virtually the same # of at-bats, one of whom gets HJ'd more often than RockState2000 on an Ozark bachelor party, and the other one who has been sent down once and cursed non-stop this year.

Machado: 213 at-bats: 51 hits, .239/.291/.371, 7 HR, 17 RBI, 7 doubles, 15 walks, 41 SO

Moustakas: 211 at-bats: 39 hits, .185/.250/.355, 8 HR, 30 RBI, 10 doubles, 19 walks, 35 SO

discussion topic: Moustakas has somehow been pretty freaking productive for having such a terrible BA.

and before you all say "but mocat, they are asked to do different things based on where they bat in the lineup" let me say you are only partially correct.

Machado batting order:
#2: 70%
#7: 30%

Moustakas batting order:
#6: 4%
#7: 66%
#8: 29%
#9: 1%

And yes Moose's season is one of the weirdest. He has just enough God given power that he's worth sticking with.
